I am not 100% sure of my line up, but I think I might have Ryan Bowen coming off the bench. Can play 3.5, 4, and 5ish. Hell of a defender and rebounder.
I was just about to ask if anyone had considered Evans, for the short time he was here that guy was a defensive machine. He was top 5 B1G in a lot of defensive stat lines.PG Ronnie Lester
SG "Downtown Freddie Brown"
SF Roy Marble
PF Reggie Evans
C Luka Garza
Bench:
Murray Weir
Acie Earl
Bobby Hansen
With only 8, it’s hard to pick a rebounder/defensive specialist. But I did think of him. Sadly, I’d missed thinking about Earl and Davis, not sure how I missed Davis. But there aren’t ‘right’ answers, so I’m still good with my 8.I was just about to ask if anyone had considered Evans, for the short time he was here that guy was a defensive machine. He was top 5 B1G in a lot of defensive stat lines.
Hope you’re right about Keegan.Current All Century Team
Point Guard: Ronnie Lester
Shooting Guard: Freddie Brown
Small Forward: John Johnson
Power Forward: Ed Horton (you need an enforcer and he is the last one Iowa has had...Ed Horton scared me and I was in the stands)
Center: Luka Garza
Bench Players:
Chris Street
BJ Armstrong
Roy Marble
Please Note: In 2024, Keegan Murray will replace Ed Horton...not as an enforcer...but as the best all around forward to play at Iowa.
if Jess settles would have stayed healthy he would of been there also. Played well freshmen and sophomore year.
Reggie Evans.. Beyond Tough.I'll mark my starters and their replacements.
Point Guard.........Ronnie Lester/ BJ Armstrong
Shooting Guard...Fred Brown/ Kevin Gamble
Power Forward....Chris Street/Aaron White
Small Forward.....John Johnson/Don Nelson
Center...................Luka Garza/Greg Stokes
Lol, that’s why I said he didn’t do much else.Gerry Wright, lol...
You ever read that guy's biography on the community college website where he coaches? It's a hell of a giggle and sounds like it comes straight out of Hollywood.
I especially like the part where it says, "Wright transferred to the University of Iowa where he led the Hawkeyes to 3 straight NCAA tournament appearances; this included a trip to the Elite-Eight his senior year."
On a team with Marble, Armstrong, Lohaus, Horton, and Gamble that guy didn't lead shit!
I'm willing to bet he wrote that bio himself and 72% of it never happened.
Lol, that’s why I said he didn’t do much else.
JAM TIME!This is from the archives (six years ago).
Gerry Wright
For a generation of Hawkeye fans, mention the name of Gerry Wright and you’ll see a face light up with a child’s smile. We catch up with ‘Sir-Jam-A-Lot’www.hawkeyenation.com
Sir Jamalot has led an amazing life, but I am not sure if he would make the cut for the "All Century" team.
My selections would have to start with Ronnie and Luka. After that, you could argue for everyone else already mentioned.
