Iowa made the extension mistake as well with Alford.
It's a good fit for Steve, though. Hope he does well down there, the mid-majors suit him well.

Wonder if there is a buyout similar to his deal at Iowa or licks?
If so, it would be very costly to fire him.
Still, SA taking them to a 2nd place finish and two 1sts in 3 years is the kind of turnaround that we could only dream about at Iowa with Fran. If Fran pulled that off, I think a 10 year deal would be forthcoming.

He was also on Fox Sports Radio today and host asked him what he thought about Iowa and how hard it was to win there and Fran being next. He said it is hard to win there, wished luck to Fran, he wished Todd had success there too, but sometimes its not the coaches. Todd was a national coach of the year. He DID give props to Iowa constructing a new facility and that will help to compete in the big ten, but Fran will also need to recruit well in the league because you cant 'outcoach' in the big ten.
All true. The days of outcoaching anybody in the big ten are over.
Amaker,Alford,Monson,Davis, and the prior PSU coach are gone.
Replaced by Beilein,Fran,Tubby,Crean,and dechellis.
Now it is all on recruiting.
