Alabama/Texas Thread

So this is the 2nd year in a row the Big 12 has been dominated in the National Title game, does that mean we start to hear how the Big 12 sucks and no one wants to see a Big 12 team play in the title game like they did with the Big Ten.

I don't have any sympathy for Texas and/or Mack Brown, but they look like Iowa without Stanzi out there. Unless they get a big play right out of the chute in the 3rd - and they do get the ball first - they don't have a chance.

Looks like he outcoached himself on that one, doesn't it? He said going into the locker room that the plan was to get to past the 50 and then try to take a shot downfield, maybe get a field goal.

Problem is Mack, your offense had only gained something like 15 yards since McCoy went out. Take the knee and regroup.

Seriously though, who does that? Put a new QB in a situation where they have to force the ball downfield. Thank God for KF and his conservative play calling.

special teams is gonna have to come up huge.

TCU?.....please. They didn't play anyone either. Yeah, a little tougher than Boise, but not much. Bottom line, you'd see tons of teams going undefeated if they had schedules like TCU and Boise St.

I think TCU was overrated but you gotta give Boise some credit. A lot of teams do have those same schedules but the only one you consistently hear over the past years has been Boise State so obviously they are doing something right. They win their games they deserve some credit. It's not like they try not to schedule tough teams. They went out and scheduled Oregon this year and beat them. I would imagine that teams are afraid to schedule them. I doubt a Florida or Texas would schedule them for fear of getting beat.

And I know you said before about don't bring up the Oregon win but they dominated them more than Ohio State did. Boise State held them to 8 points, and with their offense that is a quality win in my book.

I was just thinking about that, and the Ohio State game...and what the reaction would have been if Kirk had called that play and the exact same thing had happened.

That's true, and he needs to get some help from the rest of his teammates.

But I really don't see that happening, Texas just isn't in it mentally right now.

This kid is making the same type of throws that Vandenberg made when he came into the NW game. He would make the right decision, but would throw it way harder than was necessary.

It know it seems like it makes sense the way you are telling it, but neither one of those teams CONSISTENTLY have to show up week in and week out against teams that legitimately have a chance to beat them. Think about if Iowa only played teams in the lower division of the MAC every year and twice a year they played a team from the Big 12 and PAC 10. They'd probably fair pretty well too.

I'm not saying Boise St. isn't good. They're VERY well coached, but it's all relative when you compare them against a BCS school.

It's a big difference playing Oregon at the beginning of the year verse the end of the year.

I get what you are saying but when it comes down to it, they do have the better record where it counts.

BCS: 2-0

If Gilbert can turn this around I'd bet there are tons of people who will have missed it cuz they turned this game off long ago.

Gilbert looks like VB did in the NW game. I wonder how many reps he had with the 1st team offense. By the looks of things, not many if any at all.
