AJ Derby

I think his sources need to be vetted better. Honestly,is it not expected that when you get something like that you try to verify it with Norm and AJ before running with it? This race to be first,at the expense of veracity runs rampant in all of the news buisness these days.

Can we get back to talking about the great athlete that AJ Derby is- or have I been wearing my hawkeye glasses too long?

Nobody take offense to this, not calling anyone out or throwing anyone under the bus or questioning anyone's source- you're all friends to the PlanoHawk.

I hope that there's something to the Derby to LB rumor. However, it isn't exactly a bad thing if he's at QB either. When you have an ATH like him, we're kind of in a win-win scenario. The only question concerns WHEN he'd be able to make an impact. That fact alone lends credibility to the rumor. However, that said, with him doing so well during spring camp ... he could very well work his way into being the #2 QB by 2011 ... and he'd be just an injury away from starting.

So you know, Rob told his insiders that he was working on "a story" last night that he would put out this morning. I'm sure last night he had heard "rumors" and wanted to check further into it before releasing the info. He doesn't just throw stories like that around.

I'd love to see Morris and Derby lined up playing LB together for 3 full seasons!!

What is interesting here... is you left out Poggi and Gray- these guys are great as well, it will be interesting to see who red shirts/moves positions if in fact Derby stays at LB.

PlanoHawk -

Hunter and Tarp were both great and were in the same recruiting class. Tarp was slated to start but got injured ... and then Hunter stepped up and performed well in a starting capacity to fill the void. Subsequently, Hunter has owned a starting gig ever since and only now is Tarp starting.

I suppose that my point here is two-fold ... both points supporting your premise.

First off ... injuries happen. Thus, it's absolutely terrific to have quality guys BOTH as starters AND as backups.

Secondly, Tarp still ended up getting to see his time on the field. He saw plenty of action in our 3-4 sets AND he's played A LOT on special teams.

Even if Derby has ended up moving to LB ... we can still probably expect 2 TR FR LBs to see game action. Of course, that is assuming that 2 guys prove to be up to the challenge. Provided this is the case, that then means that if Morris and Derby/Poggi see action as TR FR ... the remaining guys will be in a different class eligibility-wise ... and they'll still get a chance to see action.

Lastly, the only way guys can get better is if the level of competition is at a very high level. Thus, it pays dividends to have talented guys fighting over the same positions.

my comment is this about the AJ thing. KF said today that that Aj was not switching. Doesn't mean he won't, but Rob may want to check out what his sorces are saying. So i will take the parker retiremnet with a grain of salt at this time, since KF also said that it was news to him. Parker would have told him first, before anyone else.
