Derby still at QB per Marc Morehouse tweet
Hopefully Howe is just making up crap about Norm leaving too. Maybe he's just trying to "break stories" without having all the info ... thereby leading to more hits to his site.
I'm sorry to pick nits, but Greenway played at the WILL LB spot ... which, within Iowa's scheme is an ILB spot.
Howe says he still believes his sources per a tweet. Says he could be wrong, only time will tell.
Lol you weren't kidding about picking nits. I predicted that Derby would play at a linebacker spot that is not middle linebacker. There we go
About Derby or Norm?
I kinda hope he's right about Derby ... but wrong about Norm.
Hopefully Howe is just making up crap about Norm leaving too. Maybe he's just trying to "break stories" without having all the info ... thereby leading to more hits to his site.
Both.
Edit: per Rob Howe tweet: Coach Fetentz shoots down my Derby and Norm news. We shall see. Pretty confident on sources here.
I know Rob, and he doesn't operate that way
Reread my post. The implication wasn't that Rob completely manufactured anything. However, the suggestion was that he "didn't have all the info [or adequate info]."
I believe that my initial statement was "hopefully Rob is just making up crap" ... which was actually NOT pointing any blame at Rob, but rather poorly expressing my desire that Rob's tweet was wrong.

I really like guys like Derby who want to go Iowa, no matter what, and help the team win. Marvin Cook was a very good high school QB who eventually made a great collegiate and pro tight end. Marvin McNutt, former high school QB, will also be a pro as an Antonio Gates type receiver, in my opinion. Tim Dwight, all-everything at City High, made the move to the flanker position at Iowa. I also remember a QB from Davenport Central, I think his name was Mike Burke. He got solid minutes as a defensive end at Iowa. You got to appreciate unselfish guys who just want to be Hawkeyes. There have also been a few guys, like John Alt, who just outgrew their position. Alt came to Iowa as a tight end, and wound up being an All-Pro NFL tackle. Derby maybe would have been a good QB in a Tim Tebow style offense, but Derby is a physically punishing football player. That guy smashes people. I remember when Norm Parker was in Des Moines last spring, he talked to a big crowd at 7 Flags about trying to coax Derby to play defense. Of course, Norm said it tongue in cheek, but Derby's dad was an awesome linebacker, and you know that Norm saw some of the same qualities in AJ. Also, someone in this thread mentioned Chad Greenway. He did alright for himself. Good for AJ, and good for the Iowa defense.

Reread the post. The implication is that perhaps Rob jumped the gun without verifying his facts. Note the comment .... "having all the facts."
Also, by the "tone" of my post, I was simply hoping that what Rob was tweeting was wrong. Besides, its not like guys like Rob, Jon, Blair, or Tom have never "broke news" that turned out to not be accurate.
Anyhow, I'm sorry that I didn't articulate myself adequately clearly.
