I giggled when I saw that I bothered you so much that you responded to me four times

And what’s “lpl?”

You shouldn’t post after your third Bartles and Jaymes.

I'm glad you giggled "old man," "school girl." Seems you can't move on either. Did we just become best friends? Love, LPL

No I don't think I missed your point at all. You pretty much solidified it for me now. Comparing amateur college athletes to soldiers doesn't even remotely work as an analogy btw... These kids (most of them) choose where they go for different reasons than fans. Most don't go to their 'dream' school like Matt Gatens for an example. He was pretty much a Hawk at birth right? Well like 98% pick their schools based on overall fit. And those fits can change for a million different reasons during their time.
Wagner wasn't a great D1 basketball player. He's a tweener. He's an undersized power forward or a SF without much skill. He was a role player at best that had a handful of pretty good games. It remains to be seen if he'll be a good WR/TE. He's got the physical tools for it so he'll get a couple years to give it a go. I wish it'd have been at Iowa but it's not. It's not something to throw a tantrum like a 3 yr old over.
No tantrums were thrown. I hope you don't infer your own sense of emotion into everything. Maybe i should have said quitter. A quitter is a loser to me. You can have your own set of standards. When you quit on something, you don't get a free pass from criticism. He should have stuck it out then as a Hawkeye basketball player. He did not. Its his choice. Im not going to root for him. Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonilla, Shaquille O'Neal, Dwight Howard, James Harrison. All folks that I rooted for that I loathed for chosing to leave my team. Im allowed to not like them. In Wagner's case, I'm allowed to think he is a loser because he went from irrelevant basketball player to Kentucky WR. Show me where it makes him a winner. Kentucky football. He may prove me wrong and be good there. At this point it appears that if his best option is Kentucky, others weren't so enamored by his prospects.

So are you saying he's a quitter no matter what at this point? Even if he stayed to play football at Iowa he's a quitter in your eyes to the hoops program? I don't think Fran or many others look at it that way. If Cook were to have transferred to MO (as some rumors were suggesting earlier) that I would have categorized as quitting on the program. In Wagners case he was an unimpactfull role player that was doing himself and the program a favor by leaving. It's a win win for the basketball team for his scholly to open up and for him to move on. He wasn't going to all of a sudden become a great basketball player next yr. At best he was goin to play 4-10 mins a game most of it garbage time. Now he gets a couple years to try another sport where he might possibly have a shot at a pro career. Might be a long shot but it's a better shot than what he had at hoops. I don't sit here and look at kids as 'winners or losers' I guess. He chose to go to KY because not only will they probably give him a fair shot and throw him the ball a lot it's within a couple hours of where he grew up. So he's going home. Like 4 or 5 of the schools he was looking at were all in that area so I'm assuming going closer to home was his top priority. That doesn't make him a loser to me. He's doing what makes him happy.

First of all, he is not a kid. So let's not make this about picking on a kid. He is a grown man. He quit on the Hawks. You can paint ANY kind of picture you want. Is he a Hawk? Nope. Is loser too harsh, maybe, but he took up a scholarship position and added very little value to the program. I guess it makes you feel better calling him imperfect or less accomplished. Bottom line is he was a below avg basketball player, not a winner for sure, so, that leaves.......

He’s a better basketball player than you, DEFINITELY gets higher quality ass than that mud fence you bed down with, and he’ll have a four year degree pretty soon. I’ve seen your English skill set and it’s got third attempt GED written all over it.

If he’s a loser what in God’s name does that make you?

Maybe you watched different games. Seems Fran quit on him.

No. He is a Hawkeye loser. Literally sucked for the basketball team and is no Hawkeye. Apologists want to thank kids or wish them luck. No. You aren't a Hawk, I dont care about your career. Yes, loser. All big ten? Nope. Quality starter? Nope. Wants to be a Hawk? Nope. Good bye loser. If you disagree, go with him and cheer for him at Kentucky. Kentucky Wildcat football. Good job dude. Good job.

Dude...

I’m assuming he left because he knows he is good enough to have an impact on the team and he doesn’t want to be benched because he can’t block. Way to go KF! You da man

Have you made any of your life decisions based on what other people want? Those that are complete strangers to you? What neighborhood you live in? Job, house, car, clothes etc? These younger adults if that phrase appeases you are under NO obligation to make their life decisions about where they attend school based on what makes you or any other fan happy... I can only imagine what your two cents would be on this same issue if Wagner was your son...

@proudhawkfan21 's just doing the same thing Josh Brown did before he got booted. He realized he doesn't have anything to add sports-wise so he trolls like @BEATHARDTEAMS . If you look at his thread history it all starts out with him nuthugging Ferentz and a whole bunch of ra ra ra bullshit before people started to call him out on his stupidity. Then he got mad and changed his avatar (strangely just like Josh did), and started his amateur trolling.

Kentucky football recent history.

14 wins 12 losses and playing in toughest conference

Iowa 16 wins and 10 losses playing in a weak P5 division

KU passing last 2 years plus 185 yards per game.

Iowa passing last 2 years 168 yards per game.

One team is moving up. The other is treading water.

Right. You are promoting the greatness of Kentucky football. Right. Really? You are going to soil yourself like that on this board? Well, good for you, you still proved my point. But if you seriously want to tout Kentucky football as being at the level of Iowa, I suggest that you watch some football here and there as a starting point.

Dean?

Seriously though, what's the point in dissing a young guy who came to Iowa with hopes and things didn't work out. That is a common theme for Iowa Basketball. Iowa football does leave a lot left on the field though.

Would you stay at a job where you weren't being used and the boss was bringing in his some to "run" things and be the "qb" of the team?

I will never understand though why a number of Iowa players seem to regress over time.

Possible explanations?

1. There were really good players who left and made everyone look better.
2. Bad attitudes (common theme here and a weakness in recruiting?)
3. Injuries
4. Lack of coaching fundamentals (seen this up close on HS teams).
5. Emotionally weak
6. Emotionally damaged by a coach with emotional issues.

Probably a combo, but most point directly at the coach.
