Aaron White's season...

with 367 points this year, White now has the 5th best frosh scoring mark in Iowa history, passing Ronnie Lester's 363. Roy Marble Sr is 4th at 399. White's 191 rebounds is the 4th best freshman total in Iowa history. Basabe with the record at 210. His 23 blocks this year are tied for 8th best mark by an Iowa frosh all time.

White has played in 34 games this year. The Iowa record for games played is 134 by Roy Marble.

I'm not sure White isn't the best, most versatile athlete on the team.

I think we'll see a lot of point forward out of him in future years. He makes such great decisions with the ball. He can shoot the three. He has a variety of interior moves. He can handle the ball. I'm interested to see if his ball handling improves even more in future years. It's easy to imagine Fran often running the offense through him, since he's a triple threat type player.

In my opinion, White's game has evolved to the point where it equals, if not surpasses, that of Marble's.

Hey jon, your predicton, is white the most important guy coming back next year and moving forward?

When Matt put his arm around Aaron as they walked off the floor to the tunnel last night, I thought I saw a torch being passed. Maybe not for another game or four. Still, the moment could not have been lost on anyone who saw it.

Aaron looks to me like he will be the leader on this team next year, with a strong surrounding cast. Exciting to consider the possibilities.

There is a pic of Matt and White hugging and you can just see Matt taking a deep breath out in satisfaction. I know this is not a NCAA win, but for Matt I doubt it could feel any better.

Lets hope he handles his success better than Baasbe did! If Aaron gets stronger and keeps improving look out world. Next year the depth of inside players is really deep, and don't count out McCabe he may be the toughest player on the team, I love the way he competes!

Not many people know that his favorite NBA player is Dirk. Just add some strength, improve handles and range and watch out folks.

White will add some muscle, but hope not too much. Needs to stay active

I could not agree more. The more talk I hear about the coaches wanting him to play the four and that he needs to get stronger, the more I get concerned. I know I am over influenced with what happened with Mel, but it is hard to shake that.

A huge part of AW's game is his ranginess, just like Mel's is his explosiveness. Just don't think you want to reduce a strength to overcome a weakness. When I look at AW on the court, it appears to me that he needs to get more cut instead of just building bulk.

AW reminds me of a poor man's Magic Johnson, the most versatile player of all time, imho.

I don't think you'll ever see him on point, but White can play any other position on the court. He WAS the team last night, and by that I mean he allowed everyone around him to play better. It really opened up the inside for Mel and McCabe.

I am really looking forward to the next few years. Down low, Iowa will be one of the better teams in the B1G. AW, Woodie, Mel, McCabe .. .. all I can say is WOW!!

GO HAWKS!!!

Agreed. He reminds me of a player back in the day when weight lifting was frowned upon because it was thought to ruin your shot. While he needs to get stronger, he doesn't need to become a big muscle guy.

I think he could use some (not a lot) stength, but I think if could improve his strength to increase endurance and handle the physical pounding of conference play... it'll pay dividends when other teams begin to focus on defending him more. He'll more than likely be guarded by the opposing team's power forward... we all saw the pounding Gatens received from guards... some of the league's forwards can be pretty brutual.

I expect McCabe and White to be dishing it out more next year than taking it. Hopefully Woodbury and Meyer will be able to body slam a few as well. The next few years Iowa will be very physical under the basket. It will be fun to watch.

Aaron reminds me a lot of Chris Street in terms of the energy and basketball instincts he brings when he is on the court.

Aaron plays with much of the same enthusiasm and the body types are fairly similar. If Aaron can bulk up in the same manner #40 was able to, I think he has the potential to be one of our all-time greats. I love watching him play! Last night's game was the most excited I've been about Iowa basketball in a long, long time.
