Aaron Fuller - end of regulation / Is Iowa Cursed?

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

I think it was Lick's first year, but I remember Iowa getting called for a foul with less than 2 seconds left at Purdue to lose by 1. I don't remember if the game was tied and he made 1 of 2 or if Iowa had the lead by 1 and he made both but I know a foul determined that outcome of that game as well.

Edit: found it, Keaton Grant made the first and missed the second with 1.4 seconds left.

He fell over on that 2 point jumper with Brommer in his face too. There wasn't a foul then either. Dude just likes to fall down apparently.

Did you watch Sims feet on that play??? Slid his pivot foot probably about a foot to create space... don't the officials watch the game???

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

Before the game started and I saw Valentine/Hightower were working it I knew we had a slim chance to win if it was close. Those two have screwed us more than anyone since Jim Bain.

Michael FREAKIN Jenkins.

Was he a walk-on or some crap like that. God that sucked.

This game right here is where I lost my patience with Alford and then the NW State game in the tourney is where I officially wanted him gone for Iowa. That game is when I really began to say "I don't care anymore." Not really that I don't care because with my posts and thoughts I obviously still have a great passion for all things Iowa but these two games are what started my Iowa basketball apathy. Ever since '05 I have never been the same toward Iowa basketball. Games like this and last night are why!

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

Another heartbreaker was the collapse against Missouri in that championship game of a preseason tourney in 01 I believe.

A couple games we had bad luck at the end of regulation but we still won in OT:
I think it was in 04 @Indiana they were down 3 got fouled made the first free throw then missed the second and freaking got the tip to tie it. But Horner won it in 2OT.

Then last year Vs Wisky they drained that looooooong 3 to tie it and send it into OT.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

Look at that again. Gatens didn't foul the guy with the ball. He shoved Douglas hard with both hands. That was what the foul was.
Are we talking about the same play? Maybe I am confused.

The one I am talking about is when Gatens was on the baseline, Harris went up Gatens stayed on the ground, and then May (or Fuller, can't remember) came up and swatted it out of bounds.

Don't forget Alando Tucker's prayer in the BTT.

The only consolation for that game was since we played Wisky tough we sort of knew we were going to the dance still. We still sweated selection sunday out a little though.

This thread is depressing...
