The fact that officiating is outcome determinative in a substantial percentage of basketball games is precisely why I watch about a half dozen games a year before the tournament starts. It's seriously WWF-esque except with crappier storylines.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

As soon as there was nothing called Aaron Fuller's last shot of regulation last night, the Penn State game instantly came to mind.

Remember this one?

STORMINSPANK'S HAWKEYE RAMBLINGS: MEN'S BB: Penn State Post Game - No Call on Freeman's Mugging and Kelly/Tate Highlights

I remember that game vividly for some reason. Im sure other team take bad beats but it seems like Iowa basketball takes way more than its fair share.

Heres a question - other than Northwestern State what is your least favorite or most painful last second loss in the past 10 years? I vote for the game at Northwestern (2005) that we gave away about 100 times, and then up 2 Northwestern hits a 3 from the corner after it hits of both sides of the rim (How in the hell does that happen from the corner?).

Just for the record, I am not complaining one way or another, just that I was reminded of the PSU game.

Michael FREAKIN Jenkins.

Was he a walk-on or some crap like that. God that sucked.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

Even Fuller said that the foul call or non-call could have gone either way. The refs ain't gonna call that with only a second or two left.

I totally agree. I said it last night, they aren't going to call it. They'll swallow their whistles. I'm not arguing that, it's just that it reminded me of the PSU game, that's all.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

Iowa got jobbed on that one. Completely jobbed.

That "foul" on Bohall wasn't even ticky-tack. There was simply nothing there to call, yet somehow the zebras saw it differently. I hate that!

One of my biggest pet peeves in college basketball is "the phantom foul". A player is just standing there, arms straight up, absolutely no contact whatsoever. Foul. Bucket. 3 point play.

I would mutch rather see contact be uncalled then all of that ticky tack crap. Let them play. Who wants to watch a free-throw shooting contest anyway?

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

I really think Iowa Basketball is cursed... the last decade has been painful for end of game scenarios.

I was just going to say that. A walk on hitting a last second three and a 14 seed hitting an impossible 3 to win it should not happen. Brunner & Horner took some really bad beats. How about the last second three in the NIT to lose to St Louis in 2004?

Being a Vikings fan and an Iowa bball fan is painful

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

He fell over on that 2 point jumper with Brommer in his face too. There wasn't a foul then either. Dude just likes to fall down apparently.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

I've watched that over and over again and I disagree.

Disagree as well, Freddy. Lucas-Perry absolutely took out Fuller with a moving screen and hold to free Sims for the shot. Look at the BTN clip I posted in ForeverHawk's thread to see for yourself.

Re: Aaron Fuller foul - end of regulation

There were some absolute phantom calls last night. Payne on the rebound that came out towards the top of the key and he's simply caught holding his hands up. Another foul on Gatens under the Michigan basket where there was zero contact.
