That's awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!I love this.
I still remember that play for us he made against LSU where he just read the running play and sliced through the Oline to tackle the RB for a loss. Feels like yesterday he and Hodge were dominating offenses week in and week out. Crazy how time flies absolutely crazy.Boy, time really flies! He played a lot of years in he NFL but seems like it just went so fast. One of the good guys and a terrific representative for the Hawkeyes and Vikings. One of the few that played his entire career for one team.

I remember that as well. Those 4 or 5 yards were very most likely the difference between them making that kick or not too as you said. He just had a knack like Jewell of almost instantaneously as the snap happens of taking the first step going the right direction to the flow of the play. You don't have to be the fastest if your able to do that. Sure you have to be fast enough and all that but being able to diagnose plays pre and post snap and having that extra half step head start is the difference maker for those LB positions I thinkI think the most important play he made like the one you described above was against the Gophers in the Dome. They were driving on us very late. He slices through the line on 3rd down and sticks the RB for about a 5 yard loss. Now it’s 4th down and right at the limit of their kicker’s range. They line up for the FG and when FG kickers really try to kill it, they often pull hook it. Exactly what happened. Winner!
