A Complete Embarrassment

I wish we had a little cockiness or swagger to us instead of this all business look that looks scared to do anything. KF speech is always the same and it makes me wonder just actually what does he say to these guys to make them zombie like anymore. There's no fire in these guys. No emotion. It's like they could care less. Just my opinion because I don't know what they say or do before the game.

They're poorly coached and lack skills. Not sure what is shocking about this team other than in recent history they had a big 10 west title. My god I'm afraid of what wisconsin and Michigan are going to do to us this year
Games will be close. It matters not who we play, games will be close.

You think this is embarrassing? Wait till were Weekend At Bernie'sing the captain around like Paterno was and not even be close to the amount of wins/titles/fun teams to watch thats going to be the stamp on embarrassment

It would be a complete embarassment had Iowa lost this game. Instead it's a win that feels like a loss.

I guess we could be Notre Dumb 1-3
That always makes me happy.

We could be a ranked team and get blown up by a ranked team (Michigan anyone?)

Or we could be a ranked team and pull an ISU/I-AA game.

Or we could be an unranked team and win one of the most uninspiring games I've seen in awhile.

Meh x 3

I'm in total SHOCK..
Yes, this was ugly. We won today, (and this is hard to believe) because Ferentz was "outdumbed" by the Rutgers coach. His play calling from the 3 yard line in the first half as well as the 4th down call on their last drive was beyond stupid.
Kirk tried to keep up with him in "stupid" by foregoing a field goal from the 10 yard line on 4th and 5 in a scoreless game. This very easily could have cost Iowa a win. 4th and five from the 10 is really tough to convert. First of all, the Iowa offense is terrible. Secondly, the Rutger's defense has very little field to defend. We did not come close to converting. One might call that being aggressive, I call it stupid. Iowa had better find a way to stretch the field. The Rutgers defense had 10 guys within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage on most plays. Teams have no fear of any kind of down field passing game. Iowa currently has a potential NFL quarterback trying to throw to "Iowa Conference" receivers. On the other side of the ball, I keep hoping that at some point we will not have to watch big, slow linebackers, chasing speedy slot receivers down field. A good qb yesterday would have had a couple more td passes against our coverage.

It was actually great defense by Iowa. They shut down all the options that Rutgers had on the goal line. There was a similar situation later on Rutgers last drive on a 4th down play. Iowa stuffed that too.

Spot on

Saying that the Hawks are poorly coached is dead wrong. I have some real concerns about play calling, game management, etc..but our kids get some of the best coaching in the nation. We do develop nfl caliber players. Before we start making statements about how our athletes are poorly coach just remember that a lot of programs higher up didn't want that kid and we are developing and competing with that same kid. I think we have good athletes all over the field but some are young (de) and only a couple are elite type players (jewell, king). The rest of our kids, everyone else has just as good of a player. I think it's player leadership at this point. There is no excitement, no enthusiasm. No swag. Its just on to the next play. I want to see some emotion. I'm not seeing any passion. I'm not sure you can blame that on a coaching staff.

Ready, fire, aim............if you believe teams can't improve over the season (to varying degrees).

College football......about the time you think you have things figured out it hits you upside the head to remind you that you don't. That's the beauty and attraction of it to some.

That "no swag" attitude comes from the coaching staff. Iowa isn't cocky under Ferentz and never will be -- to the point that they sometimes look sheepish and unconfident.

I'm not saying be Doc Holiday or anything. But it wouldn't hurt to be a little Wyatt Earp in the level of confidence a bit.

That was the most depressing win I can remember in a long time. Damn, Iowa is boring to watch. Shat will hit the fan when commits start decommitting.:(
