I don't know what to say. I don't even know where to begin.
I would suggest starting with how many times has Iowa (even in years our D is very stout) held anyone, even a hs team in non cons to under 70 yards rushing?
That should be pretty telling about how bad our run game is.
You can't win like that.
 
Well cheese and rice!!!! Screw it lets shoot for 50 rushing yards a game!!! Might as well set some sort of record this year.
 
Exactly, also fumbled the last two possessions. Don’t forget that. We were driving both possessions. Our RBs are pedestrian and our OL misses assignments all the time. IKM goes down with a pinky tackle and yet our coaches have decided to start him all year while a great player like Fant rides the bench half the time.

It is not Polasek’s fault. The man is a proven, successful offensive coordinator, but Kirk the Genious has him coaching the offensive line....a position he has NEVER coached before. Meanwhile, we have an offensive coordinator who’s only qualification for the job is his last name.
 
Eno Benjamin would have been better than any of these guys. I said it.

However to be fair, this is the softest offensive line I’ve seen play D1 football. No holes. Their best push is when they held northwestern defense at the line of scrimmage. Hard for any running back to do much with that.
 
May as well go full on spread and an empty backfield.
Why even have two guys back off the Los all game for 60 yards?? We would probably gain more than that going spread.
Nobody would expect it.
 
Brian still works with the OL a lot! Daddy's connection to the Joe Moore family got Brian the Top OL award when everyone knew damn well they didn't deserve it. It's a club, and you ain't in it, folks.

KF is the genius that brought in an OC and made him the offensive line coach, and then took his son who was an incompetent offensive line coach, and gifted him the OC job having zero experience. Gee, what could go wrong? We are now seeing what happens when you do something that stupid. Only at Iowa would this be allowed to happen.

i am going to remind everyone that 4 years ago i said no way brian should be the oc. period. but, since brian is the next don coryell cuz he was an office boy for bill belicheck, brian's some kind of "offensive wizard". well, one of those two words describes brian's ability. so, yeah, i'm lettin' folks know that i saw this coming a freaking mile away.

and you watch, kirk will step down after this season and brian will slide over and promote the actual OC on this staff to OC. here we go. 2038 or bust, brian!

p.s. if the above does happen, i called THAT 3 years ago.

Our running backs are all bad. We passed on Brock to take Sergeant, Brock will go to ISU and tear it up, watch. Our backs have no speed, no vision, nothing. Young runs with his head down and stumbles, Sergeant runs hard, just no speed, Kelly Martin I'm not sure why he plays. Sure could use Higdon or Eno Benjamin right now.

I said the same thing. He has no business being the offensive coordinator. None.

I wonder if Polasek is a square peg in a round hole. His style of coaching linemen does not jive with how Ferentz wants it taught.
