64+8 doesn't equal 68

Other than non-specific references to "the troops", who is the recipient of more public expression of gratitude than teachers? Maybe the police or firefighters, but I cannot think of anyone else.

Message board moderators. You want to talk about a tough job that pays nothing, that's it.

Checks Maslow's Hierarchy. Not sure if srs or trolling.

I'm very serious. Math teachers can make a big difference in the life of a young person.

Read Isaacson's biography about Einstein. One teacher made all the difference for Einstein when he was young.

Oh, by the way, Dickens was right about attorneys:

"Kill them. Kill them all."

I am a lawyer. One good teacher makes a bigger difference than one hundred lawyers in this world, IMHO.

I find it hard to believe you are a lawyer, because if you were, you'd know that words have meaning and wouldn't toss around nonsense like "There is nothing more important than a good math instructor." There are many things more important than a good math teacher. See, e.g., Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs for examples (and then Bluebook the citation for me - thx).

Dont waste yer time man. Big keefer is just trollin down the river as usual scratchin his brinkly wag

Very familiar with Maslow's hierarchy. Yes, I am a lawyer and have been one for 33 years.

I'm talking about professions, kind sir. There is no profession more important than teaching, and a good math teacher is at the top of that "hierarchy".

There are too many bad lawyers in this country and not nearly enough good teachers. A good teacher makes all the difference.

Top or base of the hierarchy? Personally, I'd call farmers and general guardians of peace (e.g. military, some amount of cops, prison guards, etc.) more important professions than teachers but that's just because I like to eat and be protected from hordes of proles who would otherwise overrun my land and commit trespass to my chattels.

There is nothing more important than a good math instructor. I had some great ones.

The 4 "play in" games are a little confusing, particularly when they call it the first round.

I think the NCAA is setting us up for a 96 team field, which I favor anyway

Let me take a step farther as to why we may never see a 96 team field. In 2011 the NCAA almost went to a 96 team field but the networks stepped in and changed their mind. If you look at a 24 team regional bracket what network wants to pay for games where your most competitive is the 16 seed playing the 17 seed. The top 8 seeds would all get byes and that leaves the 9 seed playing the 24 seed, try selling advertising for that game! Instead the networks got the NCAA to expand the field by giving them games that people may actually watch. So IMO, while I agree the NCAA will eventually expand but I think we will see more bubble teams going head to head and not a big expansion that requires a re-seeding. I think the next step would be all 16 and 12 seeds playing in the first round making a 72 team tournament. Each bracket basically has 2 games in the first round.

Here is a bracket, try to fill it out using the NIT, CBI, and CIT tournament teams. The games get pretty ugly.

i am am one...turned down an engineering job to be a teacher...also tried to follow my dream of playing pro baseball but got cut. I can't stand when people rip on teachers because it is a thankless job anyway. I don't need the thanks but I can't stand those that can't understand the difficulties of the job.
Unfortunately, some teachers will teach right past their student's ability to learn and/or keep up, and those students are left behind to feel as a failure, rather than be noticed early by the teacher and then switched down to a more appropriate math level. Or it could be an administrative thing.

I was a top student in Fort Dodge schools (honors list at Feelhaver every year). Where does Foval21 teach?

Has anybody else read The Smartest Kids in the World (Ripley)?

I wouldn't call Walter White a failure.

I don't think he counts cause in the end he quit teaching and got into a real profession that pays bank. Probably because he knew that technology has made teachers as worthless as it made blockbuster now that you can google anything.
