44 seconds left...

tie game, you get the defensive rebound. You're supposed to be a running team. You slowly walk the ball up court. Even if you're successful and score you give the other team a chance to win. Do these kids not know what the shot clock is? Why the heck not push it up the court?

On one hand I'm glad it was a close game but on the other hand I'm ****** that we could have won and chalked up a big L against the ACC.

what are they supposed to do there. Either way they most likely were not getting the last shot. They called a TO, apparently called a play, but it didn't work!

I think the right play is to take your time and work for a good shot. If you score and only leave them 12-15 seconds on the game clock they will be much more flustered than they would be with 30 seconds left

In a tie game the last thing you want to do is turn it over because you're in a hurry. It just didnt work because Gatens ended up with the ball instead of one of our players who can actually score

how well was running and gunning working that second half? not well. We were having to run sets to get people open. Had we run and gunned we would have lost the ball due to a mistake or missed shot. We have a young team that plays more with emotion than with their heads. Its a smart play based on the flow of the game.

Yes, Gatens is not our slasher. He needs to work on this shot and start knocking down the threes on kickouts by BC or Marble, or May!

So are you saying that you don't trust our players to make the right decision? Cause they could alway pull up and play it til the last second of shot clock. I didn't say force something stupid. What is your reason for not trying?

Best case scenerio, we score two, do you feel confident that we win the game? If so, we'll have to agree to disagree.

How could they have pulled up for the last shot with 44 seconds to go? The shot clock is only 35 seconds. Wake was getting the last shot pretty much no matter what.

There's 11 seconds difference between 44 and 35.

1) Actually there is 9 seconds
2) Do you really think Iowa can get the ball up the court, score and get the ball back for the last shot?

If there was 54 seconds I agree you go 2 for 1 but with 44 seconds there just isnt enough time

I am a little confused at what you are trying to get at. In order for Iowa to get the last shot, they would have had to really rush up the court at 44 seconds to get a shot off in way less than 9 secs in order to try to get the last shot. In that case it may only be a second or two. Nevertheless, what they did in that situation was correct. The ran the clock down to 12 seconds, called a TO and Gatens got a really good look at a three that rimmed in and out. Make that and Iowa probably wins!

New to the game of basketball?

44 seconds left is very, very tough to get a 2 for 1. Not impossible, but tough. Even if you score REALLY quickly (say 5 seconds). You still only leave yourself w/ likely less than 4 seconds if the other team scores or doesn't get the O board. Very tough to get 2 for 1 there.

I think they did just the right thing as far as clock management at the end of the game. They ran a good play from the time out, the shot just didn't fall. Running up the floor and getting a quick shot made or missed would have given Wake a full shot clock to counter, with little if any chance for Iowa to make another attempt.
