So lets imagine this. Its January 2nd and Iowa is sitting at 9-4 with a win. How do you feel about it and what are your thoughts about the program.

Now lets say its January 2nd and Iowa lost the game...how do you feel about the program?
 
Obviously 9-4 looks a lot better than 8-5. So I think the game is important in that regard.

The biggest things for me are that’s it’s the last game so it will leave a good or bad taste for the next 8 months and it’s an opportunity to end the season ranked which hasn’t happened a lot lately. So yes the game is significant. But either way I’ll look at 2018, much like I look at 2008. A missed opportunity with a team that has more talent that most of the teams they played.

Regardless of the win or loss my feelings on the program as a whole won’t change. It’s on solid footing. IMO, the bottom is going to drop out. Iowa is going to win 7/8 games unless something really bad happens. I also don’t expect Iowa to contend for division titles. That part is disappointing.
 
If they win and go to 9-4 it doesnt matter to me if it is by 1 pt or 20 although a big 20 pt victory will more solidify a ranking and a wow this is a pretty good team.

A loss and an 8-5 record depends on how the hawks lose. If the hawks play well but just barely lose then that is not as bad as a Taxslayer beatdown or the 2nd half meltdown to Florida a few years ago because then you have to wonder about coaching, player involvement, and how coaches prepared the team.
 
I feel good when they win and feel unhappy when they loose, then move on the next day. I just don't put too much emotion in to it as I used too, just getting old. Overall it's been both a good and disappointing season, I am sure most of you know what I mean. I always pull for the hawks to win.

every game matters. a win always feels good. but when the season is over, you must always look back and see if there were missed opportunities and how the entire season turned out. Win the bowl game is great, it's a Jan 1 bowl and could help recruiting by beating a SEC team.

As for the entire season, winning the bowl game doesn't fix the 4 missed opportunities where we simply didn't compete the way we should have. PSU wasn't a better team. WUs, PU and jNW were not better teams. Yet we lost all 4 of those games. This season could have been much more and I say should have been.

Agree.

A win in Tampa to me would feel the same as the Insight bowl win for the 2010 team. Too much talent not to do better.

Well I'm thinking if they could not win the west....such as it was...how they gonna win in Tampa. If you're on the team and you read this...just scream Fk You NChawker and prove me wrong. I want to be wrong
 
I hope we lose so the coaches don't get another bonus. I hate it when we win so much the coaches get paid extra.
 
Up through 2010 Iowa played opponents tough in bowl games, winning more than we lost. The bowl teams looked like crap the entire time GD was here. This is a better opponent and venue than last year's ice follies. I would consider it a fairly big win.
 
It would probably help Foster recruit!
It would send the Sr's off on a good note!
It would ease the pain of some fans!
I'm going to say the more dominant we are in the game goes just as far in each area.
Except for fans, because you know we will still hear, "how did we destroy them and still lose to ......., What a wasted season".
