2012 FB committs to date.

White is a JR. so we do not lose a rb
Grant didn't play so i didn't count him, 5'8 Joe Audelhelm left but did not contribute
we lost a starter and 2 bench players
so i guees if want to count bodies that's ok with me has they were on the roster
so we lost 3 WR
their were 7 freshmen RB's on the roster this fall
if McCall leaves that leaves 6
White being a senior RB next year and Gimm being a senior FB
they will be the only 2 rb's that will leave
the rb position is the least of this teams worry
D-L is the problem area
we lose 6 SR's this season and 3 last year, that's 9 in two years
forgot Bernstien but i pointed out we have 4 DB commits with 2 leaving
and word is Taylor the LB out of Michigan is 5'11 and in my opinion will switch to safety or FB, i will go by what i said
if McCall leaves and either Lynch or Garmen committs that will be a 1-1 swap or a 2-1 swap
when reloading you look at who the team loses to graduation and replace them
then you go after the best athletes no matter the position and sometimes you look at who is leaving the following season and maybe take somebody to replace him
KMM was a 2* WR and already getting significant minutes and looks to start next year
these ideas are mine but it is a good rule of thumb to go by

Good stuff Herby. I think most fans should get pretty excited about how the staff is doing a good job this year and rebuilding.

WR Tevaun Smith was also just added to the hawkeyes giving us 16 committs. He is 6-2 185 with 3stars and runs a 4.4 40 yard dash. The hawks are rolling now.

has for not getting a rb yet, you and i forgot Malloy out of SC Iowa
6'0 185 lbs 4.4 40 3*
good player has the RB, Slot Receiver or DB position in his future

With Smith in the fold, I feel Lynch will be switching his commitment to the good guys soon. And speaking of Smith, boy can that kid fly. Some serious speed.

bump for the good discussions about recruits, and especially after our recent 'great gets'

McCall left and Garmon committed 6'2 195 4.4 40 4* on all sites
Lemming rates him the 26th overall and top 5 RB so that's your 1 for 1 trade at RB and in my opinion a up grade in the speed department, Garmon has both power and speed
his committment brings the 4* total up to 5 on ESPN, 4 on Rivals and 3 on Scout, the ranking experts don't think much of Ward, i even called Truea out on his ranking of Ward and that are his words about Ward
with Diamond, Kozan, O'Conner, Lambert and Robinette plus other like Reid and Lynch this could easily rival the 05 class
Iowa has a real good chance of ending this class with 7-8 4* recruits
2009 4 4*'s
2010 3 4*'s
2011 4 4*'s
2012 ? 4*'s
things are looking up they are getting talent and speed and finally developing depth that can step in and play in 1 or 2 years rather than 3-4
it is this that seperates Iowa from being a solid Top 25 team every year
it is in the past 10-15 years alot of the guess work in judging talent has dissappeared
there is no longer some book worm looking at a few video's and putting star's by kids name more than likely influenced by who was recruiting him
now you have Nike 1 day camps evaluating kids all over the country and the people doing this are former players
then you All Star games at the end of the season not to mention All Star camps during the summer that players get Evaluated this includes Elite 11 QB camps all over the country
more and more the evaluation are getting better, video's are getting better for the coaches to get the job done
the Coaches have more avenues open to them they didn't have just 10-15 years ago
one more note they don't have to take 220 lb TE and 60-80 lbs on him develope him into a tackle like they did with Gallery
Donnal is a good example he was a 6'7 285 lb 4* tackle out of hs and now he is 6'7 302 and appears to be the replacement for Reiff and he is a RS sophamore

Good post herby! This years recruiting class is slowly creaping up the ranks, Scout has them in the top 40 and they give them the least amount of 4 stars. A few more 4 star recruits and this class might sniff the top 25 like they did last year.
