'19 In-State QB Max Duggan Enjoys Meeting with Ken O'Keefe

So, we have a sophomore QB from the state of Iowa with offers from:

Iowa
Iowa State
Kansas State
Minnesota
Nebraska
North Carolina
Penn State

What are the odds he plays at a college in Iowa? Does KOK have to show him clips of Brad Banks?

...while other schools show him game film brought to you by GD & KF. To me, this kid is a must get. In-state, everyone is offering, loads of talent, kid who grew up a hawk fan and that plays qb. our recent past passing offense already cost us one kid (Oliver) and it better not cost us this one. KOK and BF had been open up the offense this season and, forever more, if they want to attract skill position talent to iowa.

Does he really have an offer from Marshall? Hard for a kid to say no to Doc Holliday and the Thundering Herd in beautiful Huntington West Virginia.

You know what is crazy? If you traveled back in time to 2012 and told some Hawkeye fans that Ken O'Keefe was talking to the big stud quarterback recruit? It would be total pandemonium, like KOK is still here? KOK came back? WHY OH GOD WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN US WITH KOK!!!???

I would like it if Iowa could land one, just one high profile skill position player that is in state. Just one.

They have.

Who? At least in recent history they haven't. Oliver Martin, Amara Darboh, Allen Lazard, Adrian Arrington, etc. Although we didn't go after Lazard too hard since he was an ISU legacy. Muck Fichigan on the others.

Keenan Davis and Jay Scheel were both 4-stars, although Davis' senior year was 2012 so he never really got to be a star, and Scheel showed flashes but unfortunately injuries got the better of him.

Nile Kinnick.

Man, I had just forgot about Oliver and that whole saga and the video where Harbaugh is at a swimming pool Why you gotta bring that stuff up again?

I still say Iowa needs to prove to Duggan that the Hawk offense is qb friendly. It's why I don't care about wins this year, so much, as I do allowing this offense spread its wings.

Iowa isn't going to change what they do just to get some recruit to commit to them. Iowa has more than enough proof that QB's in their system will get a shot in the NFL if they are talented enough. It doesn't take video game passing stats to get drafted into the NFL, it takes talent. CJ, Rudock, Stanzi all had/have their shots. That is 3 out of Iowa's last 4 QB's that get serious looks in the NFL. Iowa can totally sell the fact that if you come to Iowa, and work hard enough, then Duggan too can have an NFL opportunity at QB.

I think Duggan will look at a number of things including "qb friendly" which will include what WR talent is jumping aboard in the 2018/2019 recruiting classes. I think NE will be hard to beat unless Riley moves firmly to the hot seat this coming season and then I'm not convinced Iowa would be his next choice by the time his recruiting journeys are over.

Taking wins over appearance? I'll take wins any way we can get them which for the Hawks is usually determined by kicking, field position, and turnovers.

As stupid as it sounds, I never put the numbers together. 3 out of the last 4. Not bad.
