Franny Mac got a new contract after 2 years and a losing record. Of course, this probably proves the OP's point more than anything else on here.
Hey, hey, hey!! Who else could manage a rotation of 14??

That's a different issue than what the OP is trying to present, he's suggesting the W/L record doesn't warrant his salary.
The OP apparently doesn't give any weight to trends and changes in culture... I think Campbell is worth every dime. I'm just surprised the head douche bag over there was willing to pony up the dough.

Ferentz has to be happy. He will no longer be criticized for being the most overpaid employee in the State.
It took Ferentz 19 years, BIG conference titles, 5 top 10 finishes, 2 Orange Bowls and a Rose Bowl to get to his salary.
Campbell is almost there with a one hit wonder season, a 7-5 record and a berth in a "who gives a shit" bowl. Maybe they should have waited to see what he will do with his own players...At any rate, worth a good chuckle. Just think if he would have went 12-0. They may have renamed the University (Campbell) although I think there already is a Campbell University.
What do winning coaches get these days?
I don't think anyone is saying that they aren't improved, but Campbell did this largely off the backs of Rhoads' players, minus Montgomery and a handful of others. Not to mention this is a pattern at Iowa State. IF Campbell continues this success and builds on it, I'll be convinced, but everything points to the usual end result for the Cyclones: A) Coach gone after a short period of success, poached by a more desirable program, or B) Plateaus at 7 wins, marked decline and canned. Until ISU breaks the pattern they've had for nearly 40 years now (almost broke it with McCarney), I'll side with history.I find it humorous how someone feels the need to call out another school for extending the contract of a really good coach. It is obviously a smart move. Have you watched their team play this year? He is a damn good coach. I think most knowledgeable people would say it was the right move by them to extend his contract. I think you look foolish for trying to denigrate the move.
And there is no bigger Iowa fan in the world than me.

Pollard is taking a huge risk increasing Campbell's salary. The salary increases for Campbell and assistants has to come from somewhere at the expense of something else unless he can increase football ticket prices by about $7.00 per ticket for each home game.
What are these point guard things you speak of?Especially when keeping all your point guards happy is an issue...
Did Rhoads play lanning at lb? AlI don't think anyone is saying that they aren't improved, but Campbell did this largely off the backs of Rhoads' players, minus Montgomery and a handful of others. First of all I'm not a clown fan whatsoever and I think the Big 12 (10?) is a total joke, so I'm not defending them. Those 10 wins are the following: Kansas (2), Texas Tech (2), UNI (1), Akron (1), San Jose State (1), Baylor(1), Oklahoma (1) and TCU (1). The last two listed were by one touchdown. From a strictly business view the salary increase isn't justified. If he was given a bonus for beating Oklahoma and TCU I could buy that. Knowing the history of IS in Uthe Big 8 and Big 12 does not provide one a high degree of confidence that success can be maintained.

The survival of the Big 12 is contingent on Texas and Oklahoma remaining members. Can ISU count on the current TV revenue with or without them? Unless you live under a rock the loss of subscription TV customers is being felt by the networks, especially ESPN. When the current Big 12 contract with ESPN is up it is unlikely they get the same kind of money.
Not the best decision.
