1/23 Lunardi Bracketology update...

I was looking at ESPN college bb analysts Lunardi's most updated Bracketology spin on ESPN and noted the following:

1. He has 8 Big Ten schools(OSU,MSU,ILL,Mich,IU,Wis,PU,and Minny) making the field today.
He has Northwestern in his 1st four out. Only Iowa,Neb,and PSU are not mentioned. Strong year for the Big Ten?

2. He has ISU in as the one of the last 4 making the field and in the play-in game.

3. He has only 2 Pac 12 teams making it,including Stanford as one of the last 4 in! Wow.

4. Conference totals: Big Ten- 8, Big East -8, SEC,ACC and Big 12- 5.

Based on this, it is apparent that their would actually be an opportunity for an Iowa team to slip into the tourny if they got hot and won all 6 home league games left(do-able) and won a road game or two at Neb,PSU or NW....and got to 19-12(11-7) overall. Big Ten is considered so strong that a record like that in-league could do it. Now, just have to win 8 more league games....ok, I am dreaming.

The Pac (10)12 has been crap for a few years now.

Big Ten at 8 and Big East at 8 is a big difference...that number represents 75% of Big Ten and 50% of Big East

4 (Michigan, Indiana)
6 (Wisconsin)...this range is a 21-24th ranking
7 (Illinois)
9 (Purdue)
11 (Minnesota)

MSU seems a little low to me in that mock.

In the end, I think 7 Big 10 teams make it. 8 is certainly possible.

I feel like we have a realistic shot if we get to 18-13, 10-8 and win a game or two in the BT tourney. PSU got in last year at 16-13, 9-9 and a trip to the BT tourney finals. If we go 10-8, we'd likely finish 7th ahead of Indiana, NW, and Minn.

I think 10-8 is probably too much to expect with this team, but it is fun to at least be in position to fantasize about The Dance. It's been awhile.

I just feel that our horrendous showing in OOC games will overshadow anything else we might do, short of winning the B1G tourney.

Then the team just has to finish so they aren't a bubble team. Do that and the OOC games wont matter.

Perhaps if Iowa goes on a run and beats some people Iowa might cast this weak shadow over the B1G because the national media views Iowa as weak right now.

Gosh I really would like to have the 2 Purdue games and the Campbell game back right now!

And these teams will bow out early just like always, and MSU probably won't get past the Sweet 16.

The national media is actually turning around on Iowa.

SI and ESPN have talked positively about the Hawkeyes the last month.
It helps that Fran is an east coast guy too, so the name recognition on that coast is there.
