    KenPom ratings released

Just an FYI that transfers are not factored into the preseason rankings. If freshmen are also not factored in the rankings are looking at 5 returning players for ISU and 3 returning scholarship players. ( Christopherson, Ejim, Raily) That would be why ISU is so low and it predicted to lose to...

Barta says Hubbard had NO extra restrictions

I crunched the numbers on that and it is, in fact, farther from his home. He must've went to the Justin Hamilton school of measurement.

    Early Iowa-ISU Line

Uhh I don't know what to say other than that is exactly what I said..... The only thing I can think that you missed there was that you thought I was saying the stadiums point spread effect goes down as the season goes on because of the wind. That's now what I said. The wind is the reason the...

    Early Iowa-ISU Line

Miller and Brinson actually said Jack Trice was a 3.5-4.0 point factor, except at the end of the seasons when ISU was out of it and it went down to just a 3.0-3.5. I would assume that the increased factor is because Jack Trice is one of the windiest stadiums in the country.

For real? The Clowns are charging $90 for the Iowa game?

Jack Trice as a stadium isn't up to par with Kinnick and won't be close until ISU bowls in an endzone. Even then we would have to upgrade a lot of the stadium and make it newer/nicer overall. ISU just hasn't had the money to pour into facilities like Iowa has and that is our own fault. The new...

    Georges Niang Update

At this point, I think there is a very, very small chance Niang starts over Railey(JR) or Booker(SR). If Railey was good enough to start he would play the 5 and shift Royce over to guarding the other teams 4 instead of 5. I'm not sure what Booker plays. I do expect Niang to get some good...

    Georges Niang Update

I'll answer it. He will at times play the 5, but a lot of time he will just play the 4 with no 5 in the game. ISU does have some other posts though with Railey and Booker. It isn't like he will be unchallenged for PT.

    Georges Niang Update

I doubt there is a whole lot of ISU playing with a real 5 in the near future. I'd say a lot of the time it will be 1-2-3-3-4,1-2-2-3-4, or 1-2-3-4-4. That is where the fact that Niang can play a little outside as well as inside is important. White is really a 4. I don't really know about Booker...

    Georges Niang Update

That is your prerogative and I'm sure Iowa will be fine, but as far as anyone saying it was a huge factor in his decision I have barely heard him say anything about playing time. And there are plenty of recruits that state after they commit that playing time was a huge factor. That is in no way...

    Georges Niang Update

Because there was a question of whether Niang didn't commit to Iowa because he was afraid of not getting playing time behind Basabe. That article pointed out that playing time was a factor but it wasn't a huge factor. It is relevant to the discussion.

    Georges Niang Update

Here is an interview with Niang on why he came to ISU. Playing right away was a factor, but he said the biggest factor was Hoiberg believed in him from day one, he like his style, and Hoiberg was a geniuine guy. Scout.com: Niang very excited to be a Cyclone

    Georges Niang Update

Fair enough. I'm not sure how he fits in but I'm all for a 4 that can play inside outside and shoot 3s as a junior in high school. EDIT: Also, I would like to point out that I think ESPN sucks at recruiting evaluations. If I follow anything I follow Rivals, but I mostly like to look at specific...

    Georges Niang Update

In all honesty, and I would have said this before he committed because I've been a big fan since he started getting more major offers, I think when he is reevaluated he will get a big boost because he came on so late and so fast. ISU was his first major offer followed by Iowa, then all those...

    Georges Niang Update

I know ISU is a major player, took his official this weekend to ISU. Dayton, Georgia Tech, and Va Tech are also in his top 4. Michigan State is a player, I think if they offer he will consider strongly as he is from Michigan. I haven't seen anything regarding any other 2011 targets and I would...

    Georges Niang Update

Maryland is a VERY good historic school. Texas A&M is stacked with talent and will be in the top 25 next year. I believe ISU has 2 left in 2011 and at least 2 left in 2012.

    Georges Niang Update

I would say Maryland, Texas A&M, Boston College, Seton Hall, Colorado are all pretty good offers. Specifically Maryland and Texas A&M. They aren't Kansas and North Carolina but with that many offers from big BCS schools I am very happy. He also has like 10 or more offers from smaller schools out...

    Georges Niang Update

Offers Niang had: Iowa, ISU, Maryland, Miami, Seton Hall, Texas A&M, Boston College, Colorado, Providence. I couldn't be more encouraged by this pickup because Niang plays against great competition, ISU got to him and recognized his talent early (as did Iowa, but as I understand ISU contacted...

End of Iowa vs Iowa State??

I love the game itself, but it doesn't really make sense for either team with the conference schedules being so tough. Maybe an every other year type of thing would be better.

    Colton Iverson transferring from Minny

@Jon I agree on all counts. That is a very fair assessment. The only thing I would say differently is that even if one of the transfers gets in trouble at ISU and he gets kicked off the team, all you lose is the scholarship for however long he was here and a little public image hit. It isn't...
