    Consistency and Integrity

So the argument is that Kirk Ferentz is the only coach in America that is a decent human being and is capable of delivering consistently average to slightly above average results at a well established, well funded Big Ten West school with excellent facilities and an amazingly loyal fan base...

    Iowa "must adapt" podcast

I see your point but that was four years ago with an uncommonly easy schedule. I’m looking forward at the rest of the west when I think about our ceiling.

    Iowa "must adapt" podcast

It was nice to hear Miller and Deace seemingly finally admit that Iowa needs to update their offensive scheme in order to stay competitive. I could not agree more. Here is the issue as I see it though. After the Tennessee beat down in 2014, Kirk said they would evaluate every aspect of the...

    Missing Link to Next Level

THIS! Iowa 's lack of game planning and scheming to attack an opponents weakness is glaring. At this level, you cannot just "do what we do" and expect to compete against the best teams. Aiso, coaching 101 says to play your best players and feature them.

Ivory Kelly-Martin Emerges from Hawkeye Running Back Pack

He reminds me of Sedrick Shaw.

    Stanley

By the time he's done , he'll be the best pro prospect of the Ferentz era.

    Execution

After being at last week's game, I was ready for lethal injection.

    Execution

So given my scenario, wouldn't saying "We need to execute better" equate to throwing your players under the bus?

    Execution

If I am playing my son in one on one basketball and I over play his left hand because I know that's his strength, and continues to fail to score by going to his left, is his failure a lack of execution or something else? This is what drives me insane about Iowa football under Kirk. Please help...

Questions You Would Ask At a Presser

Kirk, does "We just didn't execute" mean the same thing as "That's football?"

    Thank you Jon

My 8-4 prediction was based on losing to PSU, OSU, UW and one loss to someone else. I also thought Naively that we might look a little differently. It's losing by margins that are out of line (UW) and games we should win (PU, and possibly NW and MSU) that are so disappointing. So really wrong...

    Thank you Jon

I think we agree more on that third point than you think. We are not at a tremendous disadvantage in most areas and for most of the 80's part of the 90's and '01-10 we were ahead of these programs and we didn't build upon this. That's what really bothers me when I say we were UW before they were.

    Thank you Jon

...for not lecturing us on how Iowa was predicted to be a 6-6 team and this is to be expected. I appreciated hearing you express some frustration for a performance that should NEVER be acceptable to Iowa fans. It was cathartic. I really like Kirk. I was on board with you about the Brian hire...

    Honestly, Who Cares?

Could not agree with you more! It is possible to be a passionate fan and not be a jackass. Just because Jon was a douche bag (by his own admission) two years ago and has since grown a conscience doesn't mean it's an either or situation. As far as this recruiting policy goes, Deace nailed in...

    On the coaches

Is Iowa incapapable of game planning or do the coaches feel if "we do what we do and do it well" that is enough? No screens, no misdirections, not one pitch sweep, no throwbacks?? Defensively, can we not set the edge? And, the highest paid strength coach in America got owned by the NDSU...

After 4 games, there's not many areas of concern..........

As of this point, we cannot pressure a QB rushing only 4, unless we play against Ill St left tackle every week.
