Let Kirk retire, hire Ed Orgeron

I will say, sounds like Ed and the missus called it quits some time back so, if he wants to chase the ladies, he's free to do so as far as I'm concerned. Probably should have been a bit more circumspect about it, especially in a red sport/state. A bit different than Urban's case in that sense...

Trying to hide QB caught up to us

Anyone who wonders why football coaches are so well paid has never been to a football message board. I've come to an understanding (though perhaps not an acceptance) that your average football fan watches the game through a pinhole. I think much the same could be said over on the basketball...

    Vent thread...Post your frustration here.

Iowa lost its first ever intercollegiate football game, 24-0 against Iowa College (now Grinnell) on November 16, 1889. Over the next 130+ seasons, we've gone on to lose over 560 football contests. HN after a loss: yeah, but this one?!? Un-fucking-acceptable!!!

    Say something positive`

Not everyone might see this as positive, but I also have to give props to Purdue. I was very impressed with them, top to bottom. Physical, disciplined, and business like in their demeanor. No trace of either intimidation OR hot dogging. They came to Iowa City to kick our ass and followed...

House of Cards has collapsed.... and its a good thing

I actually saw yet another post within the last 24-48 hours wondering why Padilla couldn't get some snaps at the end of the game. Omfg, why?!? Guys, he is an emergency option only. I'm sure he's a great kid and I thank him for the blood, sweat, and tears he's put into the program, but he is...

House of Cards has collapsed.... and its a good thing

Yeah, ok, fine but this is not what brings me back to HN. Can you please post another response but make your argument in the form of how how much Petras and BF suck?

House of Cards has collapsed.... and its a good thing

A lot of people take it for granted because we're so used to seeing how they work, but rankings are truly bizarre. It's a mix of finger in the win guess of who would beat who on a neutral field but with a game of "knockout" mixed in for good measure. If you and everyone ahead of you wins...

One of my all time favorite Seinfeld scenes, Duke! His overflowing wallet exploded because of that tiny piece of paper, I love it! I think the flyer said "guitar lessons" iirc.

Are the Ferentzs trolling our emotions?.....not intentionally of course...but something to chew on...

Yeah, I think people are being a bit hasty throwing our West division title hopes out the window so quickly. As I said in another thread, my confidence definitely took a hit - I don't think anyone could have watched that Purdue game and come away saying anything different - but it's not like...

Are the Ferentzs trolling our emotions?.....not intentionally of course...but something to chew on...

I haven't had time to post it, but I did some amateur analysis of Iowa's historical Massey ratings a couple weeks ago, dating back to 1899. Iowa has essentially been truly elite for two fleeting moments in time: early 20s and 1958-60. Early 20s was under Howard Jones and he was cheating. The...

Let Kirk retire, hire Ed Orgeron

Probably but, at the same time, if you were to accept this as a legitimate take, it wouldn't even rank in the top 10 for stupidity since Saturday afternoon.

Let Kirk retire, hire Ed Orgeron

Ha, yeah - folksy public persona vs who he actually is as a human being...not pretty. Also, if you look at his resume, he's more or less Gene Chizik.

HN is the only place in the universe where this suggestion would be made in earnest. It's a privilege to be here, very special.

    Say something positive`

The Summer of 2020 would have triggered a meltdown in many programs. Iowa came out of it, most importantly, having made positive changes for the well being and happiness of our athletes but, oh yeah, have gone 12-3 on field in the time since. I accept the lunatic fringe is over represented...

    A revealing stat

I think the verdict is officially in: O line is simply not good. I realize that's counter to HN consensus, as the only disagreement here is who to tar and feather first - Petras or BF. But I'll name you two jobs that are really difficult with a poor OL: QB and OC. It's not that those guys are...

I have to ask it....does Iowa win the West?

Confidence took a bit of a hit today, but I'm still at a "probably". With regards to Iowa football, my experience is that things are rarely as good OR bad as they seem. I think things got a bit out of hand today. Off day for the offense and a red hot Purdue QB. Hopefully the bye week will be...

    Looking ahead to Wisconsin

Wisconsin squeaked by Army today. Iowa and Wisconsin are near mirror images - stifling defenses, barely functioning offenses. Get ready, boys, going to be a rough one.

    Looking ahead to Wisconsin

It really might. Wisconsin's D is legit, but they are really lousy on O (thankfully). I am hoping like hell for some bye week development, but I'm also bracing for loss #2.

    Fun while it lasted

The pass protection is really concerning to me. What's interesting was I felt we were moving the ball quite well on the ground but, obviously, once Purdue went up a couple scores, that had to go out the window. But, on the pass protection side, it seems like Purdue was getting consistent...
