Answer: the NYC market does not care much about college sports at all--it is very much a pro sports town. My wife's family lives in NJ and I have spent the past 15 years spending holidays there and reading the local papers. After growing up in the Midwest, the difference in media coverage is...
Agreed, but at this point I'm worried about winning more than one of our next three games given today's performance and how well Minny is playing against MSU.
I say the following recognizing there is a ton of football to play (including a game in the 'shoe that looks less and less like a win each week): it would be an irony of 2002 proportions if we lose big to a hot Oregon team in the Rose Bowl and miss a chance to play a more beatable Alabama squad...
Wegher got over 100 today and looked strong throughout, which I think makes a red-shirt pull extremely unlikely this year. If we win next week I think it stays on for good.
@Chimaera: thank you, thank you, thank you! Though, if I were you, I'd stay indoors for a month, or at least remember to look left, right, left again two times before you cross every street. That is a ton of mojo you used today. . . ;-)
My wife (who attended the Orange Bowl with me) thinks I'm nuts for preferring to play USC, BTW. She has a point, given that the last Rose Bowl I went to in '86 we played a home team in UCLA. I'm so confused!!
. . .and am thinking I'd almost rather play USC looking at how nimble Oregon is. Though after today's almost debacle, we shouldn't be looking at the post-season at all until this regular season is behind us.
Zero. Undefeated team, 3rd qtr. long balls hanging against the wind (more the fault of the playcaller than the player), Stanzi has a proven ability to rally, complete unknown behind him.
Didn't the IOwa Football forum originally read, "Big Ten Football?" As in, a place to post about other league programs/games (which didn't stop folks from posting in the Hawkeye forum about other teams!)
This is another reminder of the parity in today's college football, and why you can't even take home games for granted against league opponents. Tech was ranked 13th (admittedly overrated), but lost to a 4-3 North Carolina team.
I do not mean to suggest that this is somehow indicative of Iowa's...
Agreed. I live outside the great state of Iowa and thus did not hear Jon's rant, but given what I've heard it is deserved. We will lose at least one game this regular season, just based upon the history of college football. Now that we have lost some components of an offense that wasn't exactly...
