Planning first road trip to jNW

My daughter and I are heading to Evanston on Saturday for our first trip to Ryan Stadium. I would appreciate any tips from Iowa fans who have made this trek in the past on A) best place(s) to park, B) what you have paid scalpers in the past for tickets, C) any favorite breakfast or post-game...

    Sparty tailgating insights?

Some friends and I are driving to Kalamazoo Friday night, then planning to tailgate pre-game on Saturday. Can anyone tell me where we should be looking for parking/tailgating? Two years ago, posters on here gave us great info for tailgating at Michigan.

Whar the Weisman for Heisman shirts?

    Keep'em at $15, or just plain keep'em.

Hawkeyes: Weisman vs Coker & Greene

Jon, first off, I love Mark Weisman. He is what Iowa needed when Iowa needed it. I also loved me some Shonn Greene (still do). However, do you recall Shonn's first five games in 2008? He was a stud-to-be. He was far from in-game shape when the season began. He trucked defenders in games 1-5...

    Open Practice at Kinnick today?

Today's impressios: Morris in uni but didn't play. Lowery and Hyde were amazing. Nico brought the wood several times, but he also got beat over the top several times. Marcus Collins, Quentin Alson, Travis Perry, played a lot of LB. Alvis improved from last week, but still has distance to go...

    Thoughts on Howe's article

"It would be kind of like if I was given a big promotion at work based on what I had been producing, and then my performance dropped off after I got the promotion and the bigger paycheck. In that case, I would certainly expect some people to be unhappy with what I was producing relative to the...

    Thoughts on Howe's article

PS--I disgree with Rob. I am excited to watch the team practice this Saturday, and I am excited for my season tickets to arrive in the mail, amd I am looking forward to watching the BTN feature on the Hawks at 9pm tonight, and I am excited about Sept. 1 in Chicago...so, no, I am not apathetic or...

    Thoughts on Howe's article

"Maybe apathy is too strong a word. We're not there yet. There certainly appears to be some lethargy, however..." "It's a $2 billion industry and picking up steam as it heads to a playoff system. Fans spend big money on the sport and the schools compete in an arms race for top facilities. It...

BTN at practice - Dave Revsine's twitter feed

Says ICHawk less than 5 days into camp...after hwo many days of pads? Uh, let's wait & see? KF & BF said that "the depth chart will be fluid in August & September and maybe into October."

    Kirk Ferentz Media Day Transcript

Yep, KF ain't no Head Ball Coach for the Jets or the Gamecocks. I, too, appreciate what he is doing, and I wish he were more revealing, but I entertain myself by sifting for hidden nuggets. This presser's possible nuggets (or fool's gold): Keep an eye on Jordan Walsh this Saturday, as well...

    2013 NFL Draft: Iowa Preview

Biggest difference for me? I always heard coaches raving about Marvin's work ethic and attitude and leadership. Always. KD? <crickets chirping where coaches could be/should be raving> That is tell-tale to me. Instead, I hear things like "Time for him to step up." It took Pat Angerer three...

Promising linebacking corps a big key for Iowa’s defense this season

Last season, James Morris was not who Norm Parker had led us to believe he was. I am not going to get excited about our LBer's until I see someone read & fill a gap the way Abdul Hodge and Pat Angerer could read and fill. That is my standard for high quality LB play. And who is the AP writer...

15 Commits before the end of June?????

Regarding players who get labeled as "fallback recruits": I wonder how their careers have played out at Iowa under Ferentz? I cannot recall all 12-13 of the "last guy to commit" list over the last 12-13 years of recruiting classes, but I do recall Brandon Meyers and Tanner Miller. Last has not...

    EJ TWEET!!! - Andre Harris

Who have been our Ferentz-era burners? I want to know the standard. I will take three Eddie Hinkel clones in any class. My standard: possession receiver = caught the pass/moved the chains. I ask for no more. That is all.

What penalty in football ticks you off the most.

Clipping or blocking in the back by Iowa (or by anyone). It is always a penalty. It has always been a penalty. It is always a choice of the will: should I or should I refrain? Always pisses me off when a Hawk does it. False starts are second most annoying.

Martin-Manley: 'I Have to Step Up'

Dude, did you count the number of passes Shumpert dropped during the spring practice scrimmage? He definitely did NOT display "good hands."

    Finally, a refreshing headline!

ESPN Jarrod Uthoff to transfer to Iowa Someone of high quality is transferring TO the Hawkeyes! So this is what it feels like! Bo Ryan, how's it feel in our regular seat on the bus?

Dienhart ranks Davis #1 returning receiver.

Coach-speak during spring practices had lead me to conclude that the Iowa coaches had seen more from KMM during practices than from KD. Abbrederis from Wiscy is the returning WR in the B1G who consistently wowed me in 2011.

Kinnick to be re-seated in 2014

I applaud you, large sir. You have done the right thing. If your *** is so wide that you spill beyond the alloted 18", then good manners and a conscience dictate that you try to reach your wallet pocket and purchase another seat to accomodate your too-wide berth. (Frankly, why is it not...

    Food for thought

But Ohio State lost to a horrible Purdue squad who won only one game. How did that happen? You and guys like OutofTouchHawkseem to think that reality ought to match yur prognostications and your desires. They don't adn they won't. No amount of rambling can change the fact taht we were 10-2...
