    CJ Fredrick health?

My thoughts exactly. It looked like he grabbed for achilles, rather than his ankle. It's unfortunate that he'll be out a few weeks down stretch but ultimately dodged a bullet if that's all it is. As I type this I can't help but think of Kevin Durant who originally sprained his ankle which...

Four-Star In-State Standout T.J. Bollers Getting Down to Nitty Gritty

I get the sense he's trying to shield himself from any twitter backlash for not going to Iowa by pinning the blame on Iowa coaches when he ultimately opts for a school like Nebraska (what a mistake that would be) or Wisconsin. He's obviously a better 3-4 fit and that's not Iowa.

The Season Died at the Palestra

With CJ we win the game last night, and there's a good chance we beat PSU as well and are on the cusp of being in the Top 20. In most years I would say this isn't a tournament team, but college basketball is down this year. I'm holding off on the panic button for now.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

Carver could still be used for these sports as you mentioned (and should be). But come on, volleyball and wrestling shouldn't be considered when building an arena. Basketball isn't even considered in the landscape of college athletics anymore. It's all about football. Translation; it's all about...

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

New arenas have been built and it isn't an issue. The main thing is that it's a basketball arena, and not a multi-purpose arena like Carver is.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

Their last 4 games involved losing twice by 20 points and then losing to a 6-14 Rutgers team at home and a 7-13 Nebraska team, so not exactly good competition, I'd call that a fade.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

I kind of forgot we were ranked in the top 25 so much of the season last year, maybe because of how we faded at the end of the year that's how I remember the team. People definitely lost interest during the Lick years and have just never really come back around to the degree that they were. I'm...

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

I'm guessing TV plays a pretty pivotal role and how accessible all of the games are now. But I think your point still stands when you compare it with attendance at Iowa games vs other schools around the country.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

The seating expands rather than stacks up so sound escapes as opposed to being trapped (which would be preferred), that along with fans being so far away from the floor go into not being able to create a real home court advantage. It also makes it harder to sell to recruits.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

It's still architecturally flawed regardless of the team on the floor. It would improve with a better product and a coach the fanbase was more behind but that doesn't fix the problems of Carver. Definitely in the bottom 1/3 of BIG arenas.

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

Where would you place the students? There's hardly a student section to begin with and I don't think moving them is going to fix that. Tickets are overpriced for students (they should be free) and it's an inconvenient place to get to. Carver can be good, it's far and few between. Fans aren't...

Where Would You Build a New Arena?

I don't know anyone who likes Carver (it's not a basketball arena) - it's basically the exact opposite of Kinnick in terms of home field advantage. Structurally, it's just terribly designed and there's no remodel that can fix it. It's also not student friendly in terms of location, or fan...

    Murray Twins Commit to Iowa

This is a very optimistic outlook. While I agree on your bolded take, we now have 4 commits in the class with exactly 0 other P5 offers. I would guess, pretty confidently, that there isn't another P5 program that has 4 or more commits without any other P5 offer.

    Murray Twins Commit to Iowa

Great day for the Murray family, yes. Great day for an Iowa fan? No. These kids don't have any major offers and as seniors were both ranked outside of the top 10 in the state of Iowa.

    Recruiting

Thanks for clarifying Rob. I’ll never understand recruitment, particularly basketball.

    Recruiting

So does anyone know what happened? This would be classic Fran to overplay his hand with Sibley and end up losing both Sibley and Gordon.

    Foster

I see Foster as the first in-state basketball recruit to pick the Clowns over Iowa (in a long time), and the fact that his girlfriend is a cheerleader there has to at least play some small role.

    J Toussaint - R Lester comparison

From people I've talked with who have seen him play in Iowa City the player comparison they made was Tony Freeman. I'm not sure how accurate that is but I'm guessing that would be a more favorable player comp than as Rob said, arguably the best player in program history.

    Luke Lachay

Lachey has committed and it should be made public in the next couple days. The success of Fant and Hockenson has really helped recruiting at tight end.
