Foster

I doubt Foster would start day 1 at Iowa. If Bohannon redshirts this year, it will be interesting if he would start next year. I'm sure Foster would get minutes next year.

I'd be shocked if Bohannon isn't a starter the next time he's fully healthy.

Xavier and his family also sat down with Steve Prohm and the staff. At that meeting, the coaches reemphasized how much Xavier is a priority in their 2020 class.

"(Their message) was just, 'If you know what you want to do, make that decision,'" DaJuan said. "'When you do know what you want, don’t wait around. Y... And you could be a part to help (us) recruit other kids in the class.'"

Seems like a huge leap, but whatever.

It was a soft push, but still a push. His family has made it clear that they are waiting until early November, or after all visits ,are made, before they chose their school.

Trying to make Foster their "domino recruit" is sales 101, and one of the oldest passive aggressive techniques in the book. Kind of like in fantasy football when an owner claims he needs your playet to make his next trade, and the deal he really wants to do, in an attempt to get you to cave in.

It's probably what every coach will do who gets a visit. Reading anything in to that is just hilarious.
Thats an excellent point, certainly true, and I can't argue it. It's how you sell and how you push that is the key.

All schools, including Iowa, sell. Recruiting is selling. It's how a school sells that is the difference, and what may be the deciding factor to getting Foster.

Most schools provide visiting recruits gear to wear on their visits and then they have to give it back. I wouldn't read too far into that.

You make a good point, I remembered it being stronger perhaps than it was. But it was implied that they'd be OK with him committing immediately, foregoing any of his other visits so they could help him bring in other recruits.

I don't blame Prohm at all for doing that, btw. I'm sure Fran and Kirk and about every coach who's in the lead off spot as far as visits do that. You'd almost be negligent if you didn't try to convince a recruit to commit right away.

I see Foster as the first in-state basketball recruit to pick the Clowns over Iowa (in a long time), and the fact that his girlfriend is a cheerleader there has to at least play some small role.

If she is a cheerleader for basketball games it is hard to imagine Xavier choosing Iowa over ISU.
