Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

As I said in an earlier post, the defense of 2010 had the same problems that the defense of 2008 had. Can't stop teams late in games.

Why does KF not like to be held accountable?

He does not get paid to answer questions. He is paid to coach football. And this notion of these "softball" questions are ridiculous. I often times sit in on the press conferences at the Football Complex and if he doesn't want to answer a question, he dodges it or gives a very, very, VERY...

Why does KF not like to be held accountable?

He doesn't blacklist them. He simply dodges the question like politician. He's not forced to answer anything. If he doesn't want to answer a question to the press and fans, he doesn't have to. I'm fine with that. However I am not fine with the result of this season, and in turn his...

Why does KF not like to be held accountable?

I don't think any of the above reasons are correct. Let's stop making Kirk out to be some villain. He's not. However the OP brings up a great point that myself and others have thought about as well. Kirk is not accountable. The entire coaching staff is not accountable. When we...

    Good Read

Bleacher Report gets blasted alot -- and many times rightfully so -- but this article sums up pretty much my entire feelings on the topic. A great read indeed.

Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

The same late-game defensive problems that surfaced in 2010 were present in 2008. I don't like the philosophy of waiting for the other team to make a mistake. 2008 week 4 at Pitt: "Despite being in the lead, Iowa couldn't hold on to win in Heinz Field, the home of the NFL's Steelers. Iowa's...

    The Will To win Team

No doubt it is, I'm just saying it could have went the other way too. That's why this season makes no freaking sense. We could have beat arguably a top 3 team in the nation if we make an extra point and field goal or stop a fake punt. I think Ferentz lost the team by not adapting and...

    Iowa to Outback?

Why? We beat Mich and Penn State who we're tied with, and also have more quality wins. We might have ended the season in a different direction, but a month of prep and our history of Outback might get us the nod...who knows.

    Predicted Big Ten Bowls

Good lookin out. If we can slide into that Outback, this season could end on a semi-high note with a victory over a very respectable USC team. Plus its fun to talk ish to Gamecock fans lol b/c of their name

This team is dead to me.

Yes, which led me to the belief that Ferentz lost the team this year with his approach that was obviosly not working. We kept losing the same way and wouldn't adjust. Players start to tune you out if you keep preaching something that proves to be ineffective and not changing it up or adapting.

    The Will To win Team

We're also a few extra points and field goals away from being 9-3. Whatever though, we might still go to the exact same bowl anyway. Not trying to say this season isnt a flop, because it is. Biggest in school history. But it could've went the other way too.

    Gruden to Michigan?

^^^This. He still feels a part of the NFL. He's not there to bash and criticize his peers on air.

    Gruden to Michigan?

Love Gruden. Besides ol Madden, he is the best MNF has had.

Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

If we would take our linebackers off the field more I would be inclined to say yes.

Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

That's what makes none of this from the 2010 season make any sort of sense. What the hell is going on? And you make a great point about the offense. We look damn bear unbeatable when we get the ball first, go down and score. But what I don't get is why is it we continually let teams go down...

I can't believe all of you traitors who just gave up on the team

Well I'll give you credit for making business sense. However it makes absolutely zero football sense.

I for one think this is a phenomenal post.

    Iowa to Outback?

In my pathetic attempt to protest the result of the season so far, I'm debating on going to Tampa as a vacation, and just not buying tickets to the game, and just tailgate.

Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

Thank you for pointing that out, albeit in a insulting tone lol. I took the word of a post I found on Twitter without researching. I should know better.

Iowa Football: Is it Execution or Philosophy

You make very good points, but number 3 is just way, way off base. That is just not reality. All the assistants have authority to suggest changes to Ferentz. Stanzi is even included in that as well.
