    Provin it

Defense, rebounds and free throws saved the day. If this game were last year, it's a double digit loss.

And they would get a much different Hawkeyes team too. We are still working out bugs too.

Espn article on Small Ball - Iowa Upset?

I think it's doable in short stints. You could plug Moss into Dailey's spot too. It seems like a popular trend and we saw how awful the results were last year when we played three bigs at the same time.

Espn article on Small Ball - Iowa Upset?

    I would love to see this "small" lineup: 1 - Connor 2 - JBo 3 - Dailey 4 - Wieskamp 5 - Cook

    KU dominating Sparty!

Well boys, I am 48 years old and cannot recall two basketball games back to back like the ones I saw last night. They will only get better as the season goes on. It's a two horse race for the national championship barring a sh!t ton of injuries. Holy cow, these guys would beat us by 40 at least.

    Iowa realistic ceiling this year?

It is obviously early, but this is what I like so far. 1. Cook seems to have a different mindset. He has his head up whether bringing the ball down or on the block. He’s finding open guys. He also has better handles. Any team that tries to play him straight up with one man is going to end...

    Iowa realistic ceiling this year?

    Actually, you're the pup. I'm 48.

I am pretty sure you're not going to be persuaded, but nice try.

Everyone is under the assumption that we are a "young team". Lets look at it.

You aren't going to hear it from me. This team has no excuses, NONE.

    Is this THE year?

This isn't entirely correct. Effort and desire are absolutely important, but so is positioning and instincts. You are much likely to have better execution with smarts and knowledge of fundamentals, otherwise, it's chickens running around with their heads cut off.

What are your expectations for Cook this season?

Wrong. Your statement is nothing short of trolling. To make a blanket statement that nothing will change and it will look a lot like last year is very simple-minded.

What are your expectations for Cook this season?

    You probably shouldn't watch then.

    TRANSCRIPT: Fran McCaffery Media Day

You're absolutely right. We averaged over 13 turnovers/game last season putting us at 222nd in the country. Knock that to 10 and we would go all the way to 15th. I am convinced this is possible, especially when you consider how many of our turnovers were of the unforced variety, sloppy passes...

What are your expectations for Cook this season?

I hope he does all of this. However, if he is going to get on teammates that dog it on defense, he sure better not be dogging it himself. He was the poster child for that last season.

    TRANSCRIPT: Fran McCaffery Media Day

While I understand the “show me first” mentality of many of the posts here, I am a bit more optimistic. Last season was a debacle and IMO, it went a lot further than not playing defense. If everyone stays reasonably healthy this season, I think we have the potential to make a tourney run. A few...
