Mock BCS & what the Computers think of the Hawks

Since Iowa's out of it I honestly hope TCU plays Boise State for the NC. If that happens just a matter of time before a playoff.

Another interesting what if scenario....Ohio State vs Michigan State??? They don't play each other, if they're the only unbeatens all-big ten championship??? If that happens you'd see some ****** off people. I'd love every minute of it.

Can someone expalin to me how Boise St is #1? This makes absoletely no sense.

Their schedule is front loaded while all BCS schools tend to have cupcakes early and their schedule is backloaded. As the year goes by and Boise starts playing more and more cupcakes(in their conference) they will drop in the computer polls. The BCS teams start playing each other more and more they will rise in the computer polls.

The tough part about rooting for this is that means Iowa looses to both. That said it would be really really cool.

I have a hard time believing a team which will be #1 in both human poll elements to the BCS will debut at #5...hard to believe Boise's computer rankings could be that much better than Ohio States. Va Tech and Oregon St. vs Miami and Illinois seem pretty similar.

Nobody can explain it to you because these computers all have bizarre variables built in that are all different and complicated.

It is like government. The bills that come out of congress are necessarily wordy and complex, because the system is complex. Easy quick soundbites would be nice. But it just isn't that easy, that is unless the BCS wants to pick one formula and run their own computer.

Just like Government, instead of reading the bills to understand what they say, it is easier to just complain.

And thank God, it is our right as Americans to complain.

Brad Edwards on M&M said that he doesn't think Boise will be #1 next week, and when asked of their chances to stay there all season he said "not a chance." this is about as meaningful as preaseason rankings, fun to talk about but mean nothing.

Of the three computers we know of, OSU is ranked 10th, 23rd and 8th. That's how

Then those computers are fing stupid and that is all there is to it....I am sure Miami is better than any team BSU has even played this year or will play.

I tend to like the computer rankings more than the human polls. Have you seen some of those ballots?

Virginia Tech has played well since opening 0-2, and I can definitely see them beating Miami. Jacory Harris is nothing short of a turnover machine. And Oregon State is a pretty good football team, too. They've lost a pair of close games to top-5 teams. They might not beat Miami, but they're still a good team. Boise's schedule to this point is better than Ohio State's.

Won't happen then. With the 23rd being thrown out I'm willing to bet neither of the final 3 computer polls have them anywhere near that low. They'll need to have an average computer ranking of 13th or worse to drop to #5.

I generally like the computer polls better than the human polls, because they don't have the bias that human voters and preseason rankings create....but you have to remember the human element makes up 2/3's the vote. Two #1's out of 3 is hard to overcome. OSU might not open #1 but no way they are in #5 either.

It'll all balance out in the end. We're only two weeks into conference season. The cream will rise to the top over the next 8 weeks.

I like the CPU polls better as well, but a lot of them require more of a body of work to establish real rankings. 3-4 weeks from now the cpus will be a much better picture of what is actually going on.
