Iowa stays at 18 in coaches poll

Until we actually beat somebody that is about right, face it we got beat by the only team we have played worth a pile of crap this year.

Yeah I dont really care where they put us for now. Just talking about like Nebby and Wisky. Really it doesnt matter this early.

Texas got dismantled AT HOME and only fell to 16. Most coaches don't even vote. They have their assistants do it for them.

I have a problem with it. If your going to drop Iowa 9 spots for losing a close game on the road to another team that is ranked, then hold the same standard for all. Texas, while they did drop, got blown out at home by a terrible team. They should not be ahead of Iowa. Also, who has Miami really beat to leapfrog Iowa? Again, bias being showed. That's o.k. though because Iowa they won't have a choice other than to move Iowa up when the beat 5 ranked opponents in the future.

The funniest thing I heard yesterday was Musberger saying the big question was if TX would drop out of the top 10. Really? A$$ handed to you by a mediocre team at home and you aren't sure if they should drop out of the top ten?

College football is and always will be a place where name alone can be worth at least 10-15 ranking spots.

South Carolina got pounded too. They played a really good game with Auburn and dropped 7 spots. This poll is ridiculous.

This is why I like the computers more and more. They 'vote' without taking the team's name into consideration.

Texas gets votes by name in a pretty bad Big 12. Miami moves up by name in absolutely AWFUL ACC. Stanford jumps Arizona because they beat name (and awful) ND.

Thoughts

1. Texas way too high. But losing like that can't just be a fluke, they'll be adding another lost.
2. Too much love for Utah, best win is unranked Pitt
3. Northwestern has a shot at getting into the polls, next matchups: Minn, Purdue
4. Miami jumping Iowa lame. But their love will only last as far as their next lost

Oklahoma is vastly overrated too. I could easily see Texas winning next week, which will vault them back up to the top 10, or at least sniffing it. Meanwhile, Oklahoma will still be ahead of us with a loss.

Pitt was supposed to be pretty good this year, and Miami blew them out. That was going to impress voters more than a 45-0 win over Ball State, whether it's right or wrong.

Other than having a Gene Chizik team ranked above us, I don't really care much for rankings right now. We have lost to the only team that actually matters, and we dropped from 9th to 18th.

Texas lost to UCLA, and as much as it sucks that they're still ranked above us, do remember that they're dropping 12 spots in the ranks, which is more than what we dropped. Maybe not as much as they deserve, but whatever.

Miami's one loss is to #2 tOSU, and they just beat up on Pitt, which may be overrated but is still a BCS AQ school. Ball State is not.

If we take care of business in conference, we'll be ranked in the top 10 before too long. Teams above us will likely lose, and we'll be facing Penn State when ranked, Michigan when perhaps ranked, MSU when perhaps ranked (or perhaps not), Wisconsin when most likely ranked...

Still have a lot of football to play. Gotta take care of business to get some respect.

I don't have a problem with where we are ranked. Mainly because we still don't know how good of a team we have. No since in getting worked up about a ranking this early in the season. If we end up being a great team, it will be reflected in the rankings at the end of the year.

I agree with this!!!

I have some concerns about this Iowa team. Mainly the OL and all aspects of Special Teams. Those 2 things can greatly impact our results this season. The best team we faced this year (Arizona) exploited them greatly. We can only hope it was just an off night. Next week will know more, because we should beat Penn State.

IMO the Penn State game is the barometer for this season.
