Warren Ruggiero is leaving Iowa football to become a senior offensive analyst at Virginia Tech under James Franklin. Ruggiero, a widely respected offensive mind and innovator of the “Slow Mesh,” spent one season as a senior analyst at Iowa:

Heclinski was his guy, hope he does not follow.

I did see this yesterday. Weird. I forget, is that where he came from to Iowa? The only upside with Hecklinski and Iowa is that he is poised to start. That might be enough to keep him, but who knows if $$$$ will play a part. Wild west.
 


He musta been mad we didn't use the slow mesh very much. Naw guys like that don't set roots anywhere they hop around till he can get an OC/QB job. He wasn't gonna get that anytime soon here.
 


I think he was most likely a one year and done deal from the start. Tim Lester knew him from a previous stop and saw an opportunity to get someone who could help him game plan. From what I read he was a pretty valuable piece. My guess is he is closer to home at Virginia Tech, maybe some added responsibilities that could lead to an OC gig somewhere in 2027.

He is the reason we got Hecklinski so that's been a good thing. If Heck gets the starting nod, I see no reason for him to transfer to and follow Ruggiero. He could end up being a three year starter.
