I'm as neutral as it gets as I hate ND, Bama, and Miami, but I think the committee got it absolutely right if it truly came down to 2 of those 3 making it. Can argue until your blue in the face that Bama didn't belong and I get that argument, but at the same time I can't rationally look at the situation and say that ND deserved that spot.
Sure Bama got absolutely destroyed by IU, but Bama won the first round game with Oklahoma which IMO closes the door on them not belonging, from that perspective. Now on the ND side of things...spin it the other way. Look at it from a different perspective and compare resumes only not history, not popularity, but solely based on their resume this season. They were 0-2 vs. playoff teams with a head to head loss against a team that got picked over them, they were 2-2 vs. top 25 teams with those two wins coming against teams in the 20-25 range and played a schedule of power 5 doormats. Sure they lost to the 2 games at the beginning of the season by a combined 4 points, but in any conference they'd of had an opportunity to play a conference championship that would most likely have been against a top 20 team. You simply cannot reward them for their garbage schedule and no great wins.
Disassociate Notre Dame from that resume and no one is saying that team deserves to get in to the playoffs. So IMO it's easy to say that Bama shouldn't have got in because of their 3 losses, but just because Bama may not have belonged there doesn't mean that ND did.
