On Wegher & Coker

both of these from @hawkeyeinsider.com:

Wegher left camp on Sunday. Ferentz met w/ him this week. Thinks he's going to go back to school. Open ended invitation back to team.

Coker out another 1-2 weeks from today w/ shoulder injury.

1-2 weeks on Coker seems to = no broken clavical.

Does Jon have to ban himself for starting another Wegher thread?

Nah, but I might start banning people for continuing to clown around with this when they know full well the intent of the original message.

Seriously?

Anyways moving on I thought DeAndre Johnson looked to be not half bad for a freshman runningback but I'm glad to hear that Coker will be back in 1-2 weeks. Anyone have any feelings on the O-line? Personally I thought they got handeled by the D-line but I suppose that is to be expected to a certain extent.

I hope that was Jon's sense of humor trying to poke through. We need to learn from our mistakes but still be able to laugh at our shortcomings so that we don't repeat the mistakes of the past. Whoa... nothing like a black velvet to get the creative juices rolling on a Saturday afternoon. HA! (and Jon, that wasn't making fun of you:) )

That is good news about Coker, must not be the collarbone which is great. That probably would have sidelined him for the year. We may not need him if Wegher comes back, but it helps to have the option.

I'm at the point where I'm not expecting BW back anymore. He was awesome for us last year but he has to look out for himself, and the team has to lookout for the team. I would love to see him come back but at this point the team has no other choice but to assume he's gone, which if the team takes that attitude it will make them better overall.

That's odd, because from listening to Kirk and the rest of the team afterwards, they all seem to think he's coming back.

I suppose I should clarify that, as obviously I have no insight as to what people are thinking when they speak. What I meant by "seem to think" was that in the way that Kirk and Rick were talking about it, they think he's coming back.

As far as I'm concerned, it's just a matter of when. Obviously, with only two weeks of camp left until game week you would like it sooner rather than later, but I would like to think that even if Wegher misses this week that he'd ready to go by week two.

Now if Ferentz is just being intentionally vague like he does from time to time, then there's nothing to worry about. If they really aren't sure that Wegher is coming back (meaning they feel it's likely he will be back, but they aren't 100% sure), then they do need to prepare as though he won't be there. But I agree, I think it sounds like he will be back before the first game.

This is the point I am looking at. The team just needs to look at it like BW is gone. If he's not, then fine, he will be thrown back in the mix like normal. Otherwise I think the team just needs to practice as if BW is not coming back. I myself, as a fan, am taking this as if he is gone. And until I hear a release saying he's back in camp or see pics of him on HawkeyeSports, I'm going to assume that. And if he does come back, it will be a pleasant surprise, like getting a Christmas present in August.:D
