Slightly OT - what is everyone cooking for the Super Bowl?

I don't watch it unless the Rams or Packers are in it. Answer...nothing.
For me the Super Bowl is just a hang out time unless my team is playing in it, which has never happened. I watch little NFL during the regular season because I spend 14 hours watching college football on Saturdays.

So basically the SB is just another single day holiday get together like Thanksgiving where the same group of family and friends gets together to eat good food and hang out. I have zero interest in partying and we all have kids ranging from 1-13.

Plus, Sundays are busy days, without a Super Bowl.

My menu will be similar... but I'll be eating it in Puerto Vallarta. ;)

Nice. I just got back from a cruise and had a few stops on the other side of Mexico and one in Honduras. I ain't ever going back to Costa Maya or Roatan, but Cozumel is awesome. There were 4 families I met from South Carolina and too many from Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio to count. I was surprised by the lack of Minnesota people, but maybe they were embarrassed to wear Vikings or Gophers gear, or perhaps those sick fucks like the winter.

I eventually got sick of Buffalo sauced wings, so if anyone's interested here's the concoction that I've settled on over the past few years. It's sweet and has a kick. This will cover a ton of wings so size up or down accordingly. I usually fill a couple squeeze bottles and refrigerate the rest.

2 cups Sweet Baby Rays Honey Chipotle

1 cup Cookies Western Bold Smokehouse

1/4 cup Frank's

1/4 cup brown sugar or a little less molasses

3 tablespoons butter

A few drops Liquid Smoke to taste

Famous Dave's Chicken Seasoning to taste

Simmer it on the stove for about an hour. If you need extra spice add cayenne powder; it adds heat without changing the flavor. I typically make one bottle without for the kiddos, and one with cayenne for the adults.

I'll be bellying up at the local Italian pub. Nice to have a place within walking distance and zero to clean up afterward.

Make some Asian wings as well. Start with liquid concoction of about 2/3rds low sodium soy sauce, 1/3rd honey. Then add a mixture of 50/50 fresh garlic and fresh ginger, both minced really small. Stir well. Hit the wings with S&P, then grill or bake until 5 minutes from completion. Coat liberally with sauce, reserving some for finishing and for people to add it, and cook for the final 5 minutes to really glaze the sauce.

My gal is convinced I can eat that by myself. Lol. I keep telling her that an order of wings is like 15 or better not 6-12.

My buddy brought 25 pounds of wings to a NU tailgate once along with a turkey fryer. The wings were bagged in 3 bags that were each a touch over 8 pounds. Cats were playing Michigan and we had about 20 people at our tailgate. 25 pounds of wings is a LOT. We had other stuff, but I think we only got through about half the wings and ended up giving a bunch to Michigan fans. There is no way anyone other Joey Chestnutt or Kobayashi could eat 9 pounds of wings. You don't appreciate it until you see a bag of 8 pounds of wings. Then, when you fry them you add a bunch of oil to them and eating more than about 20 is a challenge for most sane people.

Idk, all I know is I can put a dozen down and not even be close to full. I've done it countless times. That's eating just wings though. Out in Colorado I ate a 3lb burrito with all the sides of rice, beans and stuff.
It took me a little bit (everyone was on their second after dinner drink except me). But I did it.

I can get on board with that.
