Someone should tell this kid how this works. The burden of proof lies with the accuser. If there isn't any, how can an investigation be continued? The police say they weren't notified at the time of the event. The school's put out a presser condoning it. If there was some sort of proof, or if the individual had been apprehended at the time of the incident then I would expect the investigation would continue. How can arrests be made? What would the correct action be in his mind be? How does the UofI not have their backs?
Someone needs a suspension. Just can't help yourself, can ya kid?
What surprises me, is that there are no security measures for something like this. Do we not know what to expect in Ames? Come on people...prepare.
Come on dude, I'm as hard on GB as anybody, but even he's not that bad!The school's put out a presser condoning it.
There were four contracted police officers with the band at all times during the game.
“After collecting information Monday and Tuesday, we realized it would be difficult to verify details and elected to focus on moving forward toward future events,” Barta said.

My guess is the band realizes they aren't going to get anyone arrested absent more evidence, but if someone has broken ribs and there are 50+ witnesses, that is plenty of evidence that something happened and chickenshit Barta needs to come out and say something more so people can understand the level of thuggery that flies in that shithole city that is basically a giant Wal-Mart.

Pretty sure you mean "condemning it".
Whom do the police arrest? That's the problem. If there is 50+ witnesses, then arrests should be made and frankly quite simple.
It's not what you know, it's what you can prove- everybody knows that!
I still think it's strange there is apparently no video.
But, giving the kid the benefit of the doubt on that, why the F would you even involve Barta?
Even if he was a semi-competent AD, that doesn't make him a go-to guy for this. Nobody at the UI is- should be a police thing.
Going to the UI makes it seem like they know they have no proof and just want the UI to fight for them anyway.
Whom do the police arrest? That's the problem.
Police - "Can you give us a description of the person who pushed you and broke your ribs?"
Victim - "Yes. He was a toothless man, wearing an Iowa State shirt, jean shorts and an Iowa State hat. He reeked of Busch Light and looked like he was just leaving a Klan rally."
That description basically fits like 30,000 people around the stadium that day.
