Urban Meyer knew about 2015 domestic violence

I would hope that he's smart enough to use What'sApp or KakaoTalk or something where you can just delete the app and there is no residual data. Even deleted texts sent through the apple program on an iPhone can be recovered - my buddy's wife was cheating on him and she deleted all of her texts everyday. Turns out, there is a program you can buy for like $80 that is similar to the one the FBI uses that can pull deleted texts from meta data stored in the phone, but those chat programs do not leave a similar trail inside the phone. Let's see if Urban is smarter than Hugh Freeze and my buddy's wife.
Yeah I'm certainly not smart enough to understand all that jazz. Who knows if he is/was. But yeah if his wife sent him any retrievable messages about it... It'd be just more academic than it already seems to be...

ESPN'S Reece Davis thinks Urban is history at OSU. Haven't heard one work from Kirk Herbstreit, probably at home shedding his Buckeye tears over this

Problem for O$U is the (alleged) statement of Z Smith "taking down everyone at O$U". This most likely goes beyond just Urb and the Missus. OTOH, sending them packing in one fell swoop might be the easiest solution, and would probably satisfy the wolves in the media and The Victim Brigade.

For every actual victim, there are an additional 10,000 people that take the opportunity to march, be "victims" themselves and, in some cases, extort from companies or institutions on the basis of "victimhood". But firing the Meyers may calm the storm for the O$U 'program", itself.

IF 30,000 emails can disappear and the Attorney General can meet up on a tarmac with a former President-whose wife also happens to be a candidate for the same office--and the current president tells one candidate "meddling has never happened, stop whining". AND, the current President happens to be investigating the same candidate. AND he has influence with those still in the new Administration. AND...the new President gets all the flak...then text messages can be "lost" faster than you can say, "Hey, Urban and O$U did The Wave!"...

Lol?

Just saying, "crafty" people get out of tight situations all the time. "Machine" politics, whether it be actual politics, or entertainment industry, or sports, or whatever, has seen people get away with a ton. Usually, it helps if there are other scapegoats around to take the "punishment".

The way this is stacking up, I honestly don't see how Meyer survives this.

Part of this is timing and circumstance. Coming off of the heels of the PSU shame, and the recent events at MSU, the NCAA almost certainly feels tremendous pressure (externally and internally) to act with impunity. Legal ramifications, potential sanctions from the NCAA and the court of public opinion all will be squarely in the face of Ohio State.

At the very least, Meyer's wife will be terminated from any contractual relationship she has with the school. Whether that will shield Urban from ramifications is TBD, but I doubt it. My guess is that she will be fired and he will subsequently step down and "retire," but I wouldn't be shocked on iota if both are fired in one swoop.

...THEN, no, Urban isn't "busted", at least not yet. McMurphy's hard-on may be the only thing that pushes this past "General CYA Mode In Effect" at O$U. IF any other media outlets jump on it (ESPN, Fox Sports, or even BTN), THEN yes, there is a chance Meyer doesn't survive this. But I sure wouldn't bet big on his firing at this point. I just wouldn't consider his surviving a slam dunk, either.

What Urban and the gang at O$U need is a flood, hurricane, tornado or other catastrophe to get this out of the news. What the "other" side needs is someone besides McMurphy to step up, ask questions, make noise, etc.

Get out the Redenbacher and a 12-pack, this is gonna be REAL interesting.

While I could see a scenario where Urban Meyer and OSU administration make it through this, this story is most likely to be played out in the forum of social media. The more it's tweeted and posted the more the actual media will cover it. If the pulse is social outrage (as expected) then the media will mimic that tone. That is the war that OSU is fighting right now. We have seen before that OSU's trustees or reagents or whatever they are called have very little stomach for this PR bloodbath. If they believe they can escape further embarrassment or in this case legal trouble they will absolutely take that path. Right now it's seems likely that parting ways with Meyer (amicably) is the easiest way to stop the blood letting.

I think the bigger question might be is if his wifey did report it and the U didn't do anything. That'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Absolutely. That would put a whole new spin on this.

The NCAA was rightly criticized with the "hand slap" it gave PSU, so, it that came to light, I would expect a much harsher penalty for Ohio State.

Is this troubling to anyone else?

From the long article:
On the original Oct. 26, 2015 Powell Police report, a box on the form was checked indicating Zach had been arrested. However, nearly three years later – after I reported the incident last week – the Powell Police released a revised version of the report to the media and the arrest box was no longer checked.

“The terminology used by the Police Department was different in the original report (dated 10/26/2015) and inconsistent with what actually occurred,” said Megan Canavan, director of communication for the Powell Police Department.

Police involved too or just a clerical error?

Bob, let me tell you something that will make your life easier. Nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing, will ever satisfy the wolves in the media or the Victim Brigade. Say Meyer gets fired, never works a day again, dies a pauper so poor that he is buried in a casket donated by the church in an unmarked grave, it still won't satisfy the outrage machine. 20 years from now some woman who is currently a 6 month old baby will write a "scathing" paper on institutional sexism at Ohio State and Meyer will get 7 pages of ink. To The Victim Brigade there is no statute of limitations. If you live your life trying to appease the Victim Brigade, you will die an unfulfilled man.

The assistant coach who abused his wife and Urban fired is the grandson of Earl Bruce. I have a friend who played for Bruce when he coached Northern Iowa. He was a good player and one day in practice my friend made a mistake while running offensive drills. He said Bruce walked up to him, made a fist with his right hand and then punched him in the stomach knocking the wind out of him. My friend quit the team after that incident. Sounds like abusing people run's in that family.

We know that OSU won't let that be brought to light if it did happen. They would rather pay Urban his 38 million and fire him without cause to keep his trap shut.

One would think so. But look at MSU. Look at segments of our government and our intelligence community. Look at Hollywood. Look at industry, where Apple, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, et. al., are complicit in the invasion of privacy, yet face little to no consequences.

What ties that stuff together? Scapegoats. Nassar (MSU), Manafort, et. al. (government), Weinstein & Cosby (Hollywood), Cambridge Analytics (industry) get presented on the proverbial silver platter, thus allowing the real players to keep the money a-churnin'.

PSU, for all its faults (both sides, really), was pretty decisive when it got to "trustee/regent" levels. I would think that would happen at O$U, but it hasn't happened at MSU, what with Nassar being fitted for a gargantuan-sized sword to go with his orange jumpsuit. Does O$U have regents/trustees that will stand up? OTOH, unless/until we "know" how complicit Meyer was, this still could turn into a "nothing-to-see-here" item on page four.

The other question becomes, "Will this affect recruiting?" Looking at PSU and MSU, and even places like Baylor, it seems to be a resounding, "No!" But maybe this becomes the "push" needed to get recruits thinking beyond bling, jerseys and "developing a great relationship". Could you, as a recruit's parent, ever look a PSU or MSU coahc in the eye and say, "What's past is past" and tell your son/daughter to overlook that past? Too many "parents' can answer that in the affirmative. But the second it affects recruiting is the second before Meyer is shown the door.

No sweat for me. I'm not the coach with his job on the line, nor am I a trustee/regent at O$U.

But dude, if the Victim Brigade can be fended off with a couple well-placed media stories (and we've seen how easily they can be steered), believe me, the medic-complicit will do it.

Lol so cynical, but pretty true. It is human nature for people to use crutches and make excuses for why they are unsatisfied.

Ya I don't totally disagree. There is a distinct difference between some of the examples given and Meyer's situation though. Most importantly is Meyer is not the head of the snake. The people with the real power that control the real money are still above the fray in this situation and I believe they would do a whole lot to stay that way. That puts Meyer squarely in the scapegoat seat.

I guarantee you that the police are involved, just like they were in Pedo St. I wouldn't be surprised if some serious shit has been or is being covered up in Lincoln, as well.

While I lament the obliteration of the newspaper industry because I really enjoy their in-depth investigative reporting (still subscribe to the WSJ and they still do a great job with this) due to the rise of social media, I love the direct soapbox that social media has given people to levy significant charges that 20 years ago would not have seen the light of day. Of course, I hate hearing everyone's "scorching takedown" of Trump or whatever else passes as mainstream "news" now, but the upside of the direct storytelling is huge.

It's is almost a guarantee that every college in America has covered up some pretty nasty shit. The only thing crusaders can do is go after the ones who are doing it currently. How long until people realize that privacy is a hoax and most scandals are bound to be uncovered in the age of information technology?

If he was doing that to his wife, I wonder how he was with the players. Remember this guy?
