This has become a national news story. Not sure what to think, but here are my theories. 1) She went jogging, some nut job spotted her and followed her back to her boyfriends apartment, broke in and took her against her will. 2) She was in the apartment and someone in the apartment complex had her eyes on her and took her. 3) She snapped, and for unknown reasons took off on her own.

Also, I have heard that her brother has cut her out of all his photos of Mollie on his Instagram account. I have also heard her boyfriend works construction. What if he told his co-workers about him leaving and one or more those co-workers took her?

Yesterday on the Big 10 Network they replayed the Iowa/OSU game from last November. A couple of cut away shots of the Iowa students showed a girl who looked just like Mollie, I wonder if that was her at the game? It kind of creeped me out.

I also read that that have been like 30+ abductions in Iowa alone in the past 10 days. If so, this state has some serious issues going on. It still angers me that the two young Evansdale girls murderer has not been caught.

What's your two cents?

What the hell do they mean by 30+ abductions in 10 days? That seems insanely high. Johnny Gosch will be replaced as the weirdest missing person case by this young lady.

Johnny Gosch actually has a pretty interesting documentary on Netflix about him. He was a boogeyman for every kid growing up in central Iowa in the 80s.

I've seen that on the 30+ abductions, it's grossly overstated.

As for this girl, whole situation is just horrible. I want to avoid speculating on it because there's been some wild theories out there and some totally unfair stuff like "the boyfriend didn't look sad enough in the interview" crap.

I remember as a kid eating my cereal, pouring the milk on it and seeing Gosch's photo on the side of the milk carton.

Yeah, every kid who carried papers knew about Johnny Gosch. Thanks for the story on missing persons - clearly just garbage data.

Assuming the stats are true, do those include custody disputes where one parent takes the kid against a custody order?

The stats aren't true and it includes any missing person report, so yes, custody disputes are included. Along with runaways. Along with "Little Joey didn't come home from school and I don't know where he is" and then he shows up 2 hours later because he was over at his friend's house.

So it's definitional and agenda-driven?

Been getting so many shares on FB about missing Iowa kids...
and after a quick google search, find out they have all been found, sometimes as far back as a month ago.

Imagine that, people posting false/outdated information on FB!

Well, I don't know if it's as agenda driven as the 500 million assault straws used per day number was, but the media tends to be comprised of idiots who have no understanding of data so they'll just parrot a ridiculous number to attract eyeballs. You remember the "stranger danger" rage back in the '80's, right?

Source - a 13 year old kid who called up some straw manufacturers.

Well...if some sick bastard took her against her will. I personally think there should be a law that allows the family of a victim to be able to spend 30 minutes with the sick bastard in a cell unsupervised in an anything goes type of cage fight. Family members can bring the weapon of their choice. I have a daughter this age, and I will tell you if this happened, this a-hole better hope the police find him first.

That's all I have to say about that.

I had a paper route at that time. Thank God the Dubuque Telegraph Herald was an afternoon paper then and only ran a morning addition on Sunday. The Sunday following the Johnny Gosch incident my mom insisted that my dad ride near me in the van. After a couple weeks I had a better idea. Spike, our Rottweiler, walked with me. NOBODY was going to lay a finger on me when Spike was on guard.

I'm also an active jogger and it saddens me that this is mentioned as a possible cause of her disappearance. With traffic, animals, and weather joggers, especially female joggers, have enough to worry about out there without having to worry about being harassed or assaulted.

That's the damn problem. You know how many people get their news from FB alone? It's way too many, whatever it is.

Hopefully this girl took off on her own and will be found eventually. Wishful thinking.

When my daughter was 11, she went "missing" one evening, not where she was supposed to be for a pickup. It was a communication screw up and she was ultimately located safe with her friend...but for a while she was gone. I know the feelings that went through me that night... I can't imagine what this must be like for the parents and families of kids who are never found.

God I hated the morning route on Sunday and they were heavier than hell. Wednesday sucked too with the ads, but at least it was the afternoon

Christmas Morning 1983 or 1984. A Sunday. My younger brother had my old route. I helped him. 26 degrees below zero. Holy shit!

I had a trick with those Wednesday and Sunday ads. If a customer was being belligerent or behind in payments (we collected door to door back then, another shitty part of the job) I would flip that paper upside down and as high in the doorway as possible. All those ads would fall out on it's descent.

Back when I had my route some jackass had the brilliant idea of routinely putting cereal or laundry detergent samples in with the Sunday paper.

Now I know you're sitting there thinking "OK4P is a smart guy, surely he would just dump the samples."

Nope. Every damned time they did it the sample was embedded in a plastic bag you had to wrap the paper in and they put a damned ad for the sampled product, noting the free sample, across the top 1/6th of the paper. So now, you not only have to deal with the Sunday paper, but you have to bag every one of them and carry the sample. Those assholes. I carried the Register and that sumnabitch had to be delivered by 6 AM weekdays/Saturdays and 7:30 on Sundays. When I was at my mom's over Christmas and those bastards had the gall to deliver that thing at 4 o'clock on Christmas Eve with a 12/25 date stamp I damned near had an aneurysm.
