"per capita" seems fairly meaningless to recruiting- number of prospects is really the only relevant number.Elite recruits per capita, 2013-17
I mean, according to these numbers, Hawaii is a top-10 recruiting state?

Not sure the context of this data but I'm guessing it's elite recruits, ie. four or five star kids, per capita. If so, that accounts for the top kids not the number of D-I prospects. Iowa has had a good run with guys like Pierschbacher, Darboh, Martin, etc. That doesn't change the fact that Iowa doesn't have the number of Power 5 players in this state compared to others in the conference. Find me a comparison between the No. of Power 5 players in Chicago compared to the entire state of Iowa in the last five years.

It's a message board This one is pretty darn tame compared to many. Wisconsin doesn't have a bevvy of players to chose from their own state. Granted they don't have Wisconsin State either. Fact is that Wisky and Iowa both compete for Illinois players. Probably it's hard for Iowa, Wisky, IL,, NW, and Purdue to be all good at the same time.
This is an interesting article that talks about Academic standards at Wisky and NW. Iowa SHOUlD be deeper than NW and I don't see how that is arguable. Nor am I a negative person.
Most of the detractors aren't really that bad. I do think that HF set things up by refusing to make excuses. He would say it was harder, but aside from when he applied at USC, he just didn't make excuses. The excuses do get wearing.
Iowa does have the ability to recruit decent enough players. KF is good at finding diamonds in the rough.
KF does set himself up for criticism by his stubbornness. It frustrates people.
This NW article actually talks about Bob Sanders.

If you want to drive away posters who get frustrated about KF, the number of posts will go down. I can't answer for others. I would be less critical if Iowa would open the O up more. It's just more fun to watch period. I think I'm pretty darn fair about KF.
I think I'm pretty darn fair is saying the KF doesn't do well with game manager QBs. They seem to correlate with down yars. Stanley MAY be different. KF does really well with QBs who are not game managers, but are a bit of mavericks. I think I'm pretty darn fair saying that Iowa problems by in large on O have to do with 1st down play calling. I think I'm pretty darn fair saying that not getting to the QB on D is a big problem. I think I'm pretty darn fair in saying over the years Iowa RBs get clobbered a whole lot due to lack of blocking support.
I think I'm pretty darn fair is saying that KF does a good job of keeping games close. He does pretty darn good about finding unknown talent. Not sure how good he is about developing mediocre talent though.
I think it's pretty darn fair to say the national media doesn't have a lot of respect toward Iowa as a football power. That lack is not just about talent, it's game decision making.

I don't care if I drive away the posters that continually beat the same negative KF drum. It will open up space for people that don't come on here because they're tired of posters like you.
You're fair in your eyes, man. You're convinced of that. If you're trying to tell us you don't lean heavily towards negativity about Iowa football on here, you're dishonest.
I don't expect the board to have everybody holding hands and singing kumbaya, but the same small group of posters pounding away at the program with rarely an original thought gets tiring.
This is another example of a thread being hijacked by this crew. It's a game preview thread. Who's talking about how the teams matchup and who's talking about how Iowa doesn't recruit well enough and should be as good as Wisconsin?
I'm done. I don't have time to continue debating the same stuff we debate every few weeks. You don't like the staff. We get it. In the end, it's up to my discretion on who stays and who goes around here so it's an enjoyable community for the majority.
amen - I love the Iowa Football program - it's one of the better CFB programs in the country on a year in and year out basis. Consistency - power football that Iowa fans should be proud of. Of course it can be better, we all want that. Every single thread does turn into this and I am probably just as guilty for engaging with these guys, but it's hard because they just put out stuff that's so inaccurate.

Iowa should not be behind Wisconsin. Oregon should never have made a big run. How the heck does K State do it?

I know I'm easily one of the least-liked posters on this site and I am for sure one of the ones being referenced here, but to be fair I've never said we sucked, that I hate the coaches, or that I think they should be replaced.
And I think the Hawks will win this weekend, btw.

Maryland rarely put pressure on Thorson last week so he was in total control of the NW toolbox especially with Jackson running the ball effectively. Thorson will do the same this week if the Hawks apply little pressure.
Don't have a good feeling about this one. Hope the rest has us finding some better line play on both sides.

And you’d be wrong. Research their recruits and check out their other offers. They’re not stealing recruits from Princeton and Harvard.
Yeah I don't think so. How does who else has offered NW recruits have anything to do with admission standards at NW? Just bc some kid is a stud both in the classroom and on the field doesn't mean schools with easier entrance requirements aren't going to offer. The fact is it's harder to get into NW than it is Iowa. If you have a sub 30 ACT without damn near 4.0 guess what...you're not getting into NW. Those kinds of scores put you in the top 25 percentile at schools like Iowa. NW has no tradition. None. In fact until recently, and a few years under Barnett the cheater, NW has been complete garbage. They play on a Jr High field 40 minutes from anything even remotely cool in Chicago. Tell me again how it's easier to recruit to NW?
