Jok not in top 75 NBA Prospects

I can't believe he didn't come in the top 75. I'm not a fan of his defense but he has one of the sweetest shots I've seen in 40 years. No respect for the leading scorer in the B10.

He can still make some coin playing in Europe. Probably not quick enough and not a great handle, along with the deficiency on D hurt his eval.

He’s not athletic enough of a two guard. He would show poorly in the NBA combine camps I bet when it comes to running/jumping moving laterally he would really be at the lower part of that group. Not that that’s the end all be all but when you add to it he’s a terrible defender and not the most intelligent of players out there either (makes questionable decisions with the ball a lot. Bad turnovers, and of course getting lost on D) I don’t think his shooting will overcome all that. There’s other good shooters out there that can’t get in the league either. That BYU kid Fredette for one has been trying a couple yrs now with no luck. He’s considerably a better player all around than Jok with shooting/scoring being his forte as well….
Before this season started and after the first month or so I though Jok had a legit shot of getting drafted. After the last month or so I think he’s going to Europe…

Wikipedia has Jimmer at 6'2" and Pete is 6'6". Of course Jimmer's going to have more difficulty creating shots.

I still think there is a shot of Peter playing a role similar to Kyle Korver. Streak shooter coming off the bench knowing you're giving up something on the Defensive end.

Agreed. There's always room for shooters. I don't know/care if Pete gets drafted...my guess is he won't...but he will get a D-League shot.

True but Korver wasn't drafted to be just that. He kind evolved into that over time. He was a pretty good all around player coming out of college and he's bigger and played more of a 3 then a 2 early on then what Jok would be. Now there's a pretty darn good value to be had for having a sharp shooter on your team. But if that's literally all your expecting or going to end up getting out of him he's not going to play a lot. Therefore his draft stock won't be very high at all...
It would have been interesting to see how Jok would be if he never would have hurt his knee in HS. I still don't think he's reached what his potential should be athletically. That's too bad. But I'm happy he's been able to get where he's gotten. For awhile it looked like he might not even play college ball.

He's a lottery pick if elite FT shooters are in high demand. He has a nice looking shot. But the rest of his game is not NBA caliber IMO. But I would love to see him succeed.

Yep, gotta play better D to make his point average valuable. When a great shooter has a 23 pt game average but gives up 16 pts on D, that's only a 7 pt gain to the team. Makes that 23 pt average much less lethal. NBA scouts see that.

Lucky for him, he's going to get some looks and a chance to stick so make the most of it.

If I remember correctly, I think they viewed Korver as a pure shooter as that what set him apart. He as a specialized 3pt shooter and would shoot bombs quite often. I think they gave him a shot knowing this and hoping he could improve the rest of his game.

Yes, he was a good overall college player but the NBA is so different and I'm pretty sure when he graduated the NBA pretty much viewed him as a sharp shooter.

ESPN on Korver post draft:
"Kyle Korver may be one of the best shooters in the draft, but he can't create his own shot and can't play a lick of defense."

You guys are selling Korver WAY short by pegging him as just a "streak shooter." Korver is one of the elite shooters in the NBA, and he has been for quite some time. He is a career double-digit scorer (though just barely, 10.0 ppg) with a career true shooting % that is 20th best all time. He is also a solid defender, and while not a great ball handler, he has developed into a capable play-maker. He is one of the best off-ball movers in the league, and he has developed the ability to catch the ball on the move with the defense scrambling and make great passes to set up teammates. He was a 2015 all-star, and since finding a home as a starter in Atlanta, he has finished each of the last 4 full seasons ranked somewhere between #30-60 in the league in win shares.

I will say this in Joks favor, pre back injury this year he shot 41% from 3. After he shot 33%

I get the Korver comparison. But note the difference below...freshman to senior year. Korver is listed first.

3%
43.4 to 34.8
45.2 to 34.3
42.9 to 40.2
48.0 to 38.0

FG%
47.5 to 40.0
47.0 to 35.8
47.8 to 43.1
46.8 to 42.6

FT%
89.5 to 79.4
86.7 to 90.2
89.0 to 85.2
90.8 to 91.1

Korver did it for 4 years and did it better. I acknowledge that he played in a lesser conference. But he had to be the opposition's primary focus. All of this being said I hope Jok plays many years in the NBA and plays well...but I'm not predicting this will happen.

His health issues really hurt his draft chances. He had potential to be drafted on his shooting ability alone, at least second round. Regardless I'm sure he'll have a chance to try out for a team.
