Watching the PTL games

We were in the discussion to win the B1G title with Clemmons at SG, would you have predicted that after his PTL debut before his Fr. year?
Clemons was never expected to start at PG coming into his FR year. He was an afterthought in that recruiting class. They fact that he managed to contribute accordingly is a surprise. But I knew he had handles and he played defense. That's a good start as far as I'm concerned.

That's what I'm saying. There's no way we can win or even finish in the top 3 in the conference with our current PG situation .

But I just gave an example of how we could win one without good point guard play and you responded "way to go out on a limb" so it's obvious you agree with me that of those 3 things happen, we could win one. It sounds to me like you don't just have a problem with point guard, you have a problem with the whole team.

How does that have anything to do with anything? Clemmons was able to surprise you but there is no way in hell CW or JB can? JB can at least shoot and has handles, that's a good start as far as I'm concerned.

LOL, so he was a "recruiting afterthought", but you knew he had good handles and could play D, so he would be a big contributor his Sr. year to a team that finished 3rd in the B1G.

The fact is you had no clue on that, and I'd bet you would have mocked anyone saying this, just like you are doing now with some who just won't bash the crap out of CW and Bohannon as PG 1 game into the PTL season.

Once again, you provide the obvious commentary and expect it to have some impact. Name the BIG title winning teamthats had 3 All BIG players on it, over the past 10 years. That's a loaded roster. Or are you talking about 3 players in the 3 teams chosen (1st, 2nd and 3rd)?

Yeah, but being smug and satisfied in losing is something you are going to "relish".
No. I'm going to relish proving what I have been saying all along. You guys don't know anything about basketball. Trying to portray me as anti-Iowa is a feeble attempt to sidestep the coming embarrassment you will suffer.

Clemons surprised most people by how he turned out. So did Marble, White, and Uthoff. Gesell and Woody surprised most people how they turned out to. Just not in the same way. Baer has been surprising so far. Our 2 best recruits in last year's class were the 2 kids who red shirted. That was surprising. May surprised big time his senior year. Gates would be remembered a little different if it wasn't for his surprising torid stretch in February of his senior year. There are new surprises every year but NO WAY will CW or JB surprise.

What's funny Connor Mac could end up being a really good point guard and CW could move over and be an all American and lighting would pound his chest about being right.

How do you know we won't win one with them? Because we haven't won one in 30 years so you think it's a safe thing to say to sound smart. Way to go out on a limb there. I can pretty much guarantee we won't win a national championship with CJ at quarterback. Some serious thin limbs we're going out on with projecting things won't happen that never happen at iowa.
This only reinforces my point. We have seen far better PG prospects come thru the doors at CHA over the past 30 years, than CW and JBo. And no BIG title. Your saying that CW is a step back from the likes of BJ, Andre W and Tony F is precisely what I've been saying. He's a big step back from a good BIG PG.

That CW will be a poor BIG PG and he won't play that position for the next 3 years.

Once again, huge limb you're going out on. Fran is bringing in his top 100 son to play point next year and you're bragging about coming up with this crazy theory that CW won't play point forever at iowa? You should write a book to capture all your wisdom.

That's fully my expectation. Conner will be a good BIG PG and CW will move over and do well at his more natural position. But THIS year....we are in trouble at the PG position. Why is that so hard to understand?

But Im of the opinion that Fran is a great coach whose teams are better than their individual players. Last year, if Hayes misses a late 3 and Yogi misses a late 3, we win a share of the Big 10 title having 3 starters who can't score and having a harder schedule than the team we tied with. We were really close with a team that I think will be worse talent wise than the teams we will have the next 2 years after this year. Maybe the point guard won't be as good as Gesell was (that's a big maybe) but maybe the team around the point guard will be better. Or maybe we will get the easiest conference draw in the history of conference draws while all the other good teams get terrible draws. You can't just say there is no way we can win because of one position on the floor (who is only a sophomore ) and come off as intelligent.

I've been telling you guys that for 2 years! Conner will play PG at Iowa. He is NOT listed as a top 100 PG by any recruiting service. If you are suggesting he is, please provide the link for us.

Because you are saying we will never be good with him as point guard. Why say that if you know he will only play there for one year?

You haven't been telling us anything. Everyone who pays any attention to Iowa hoops at all has known all along that Connor will play point guard.

So hold on, if I don't think that CW will be a miserable failure I don't know BB? I have said repeatedly in this thread I am concerned about the PG position, I just refuse to call CW and Bohannon a complete and total failure after 1 PTL game like you.

Also I fully expect Iowa to take a step back this year, and it has nothing to do with PG. They lost 4 Sr. starters, and most of their returning scoring, rebounding, and assists. To try to pin a down year on one kid is simply unfair and you know it. You are basically being a disingenuous jerk because some won't just rip non stop on CW and Bohannon.
