Will the whiners stop whining now, or need more wine

Well, we can agree on this............we disagree.
I'm an optimist, a glass half full guy.

Will Iowa be knocking on Playoff door in December??
Only time will tell..........Hawkeyes have the table set to make a run.

How can you even mention Iowa and the four team playoff in the same breath and be serious? Any team from a major conference with one loss would make it before Iowa, with two losses and one of them being to a BAD ISU team. And if you don't think there will be at least four one loss teams, and/or quite a few other two loss teams that have losses to MUCH better teams than Maryland (not to mention ISU), you are on crack. The scenario I mention with only two Iowa losses is obviously the best case scenario, and in that scenario Iowa isn't even close.

I am glad they won today, and I am NOT one of the people that is always complaining. But, anyone that thinks we would be in the playoff picture this year is just plain drinking Koolaid.

Um...I'll quit whining when KF figures starts recruiting better, plays his best players, beats ISU 15 straight years, and doesn't lose 24% of the games that he is a 10 point favorite in...got it? Good!

To answer the OP's question... no... the whiners will never stop whining because it's not just what they do... it's who they are. Without the ability to come to an internet forum under an assumed identity and complain about everything as if they actually have knowledge of the subject they have no identity.

is BlindDogScooter your first or last name?:p

It's atually a tribute to the best dog I ever had... who was blind... whose name was Scooter. She is immortal through the internet!

Oh... and I'm not pretending to be an expert at anything... you kinda missed my point.

This team kicked *** today and was a blast to watch. This victory also showed me just how far out of touch some of this fan base has become. I mean we have threads talking about a trips to the Rose Bowl and being in the running for a BCS Playoffs bid. Seriously that is about as Delusional, as it gets.

Right now this site is in a very nice tug-of-war battle.

I'd say the board is just as coo-coo after a loss. The team is in disarray, not gonna win another game, fire Kurt, etc. The negative side comes out of the woodworks when we lose. Just let this side have its day today.

look, we are all happy about the win. can we just enjoy it for one dern day, plus the clowns got obliterated.

This is obviously not true, and that is the problem I have with teh "haters"......they are actually upset when Iowa wins, as it keeps KF as coach. At least OoTH was honest about this, and said he roots for the Hawks to lose every game KF coaches. Others obviously do this as well, but don't have the sacks to admit it.

dean, not sure where you jumped in on this thread, but it was started by a "Kool-Aid" drinker who was trying to put the "haters" in their place. Problem is that today's performance validates what the "haters" were complaining about with the program. This type of performance is all the "haters" have been asking for. So, you see, the "haters" observations were on target, after all. But again, the OP was taking a shot at the "haters" and this really was an unnecessary thread. Wouldn't you agree?

Agree with this dude. 8 games this year so far and only two (Indiana/NW) of them what we expected back in August. When you underwhelm in 6 games out of 8, of course people are going to vent. Especially when you add that to the length of time we have been unranked.

What? The haters complain about the scheme....welp this was a freaking typical KF boring game with us running the ball 50+ times. Da haters told us we gotsta play exciting players like Willies, not no talent hacks like KMM, and Vandenberg. Da Haters say KF gotta recruit better than 2* running backs that only other offers are Temple like Akrum Wadley.

This game was field position and defense, but it was executed to perfection today. So is the "haters" real complaint that the team ain't always perfect, or is it the "scheme" that dominated jNW today. Just look to Fitz kittykat himself, he said as much. There was NOTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT IOWA TODAY. They did what they always do!!

It was a great win...no doubt...and I hope there are four more of them.

But this rationale is so overdone on the boards...if they go back to what has worked for them offensively i the past, they will likely have success...today was great...it;s a start but it's not yet a trend.

Many other whiners were whining for Iowa's ground and pound running game. Pounding the run is not what won the game for Iowa, today. Iowa received a lot of yards from edge rushes. The ball was thrown down the field was great success and aplomb by Jake. Iowa's offense put NW's offense in a bind trying to catch up.

This Iowa offense has the highest potential of scoring of any offense during KF's stay at Iowa. The highest potential of coming back from deficits of any KF offense at Iowa. The highest potential of gaining yards of any KF offense at Iowa. Already the most rounded offense of any offense during the KF era.

This year, so far, the trend has been for Iowa's offense not to click when it had to. If Iowa's offense doesn't click, the game is lost because Iowa's defense can't hold the other team off. Let's see how Iowa does next week.

Iowa did the things in the NW game detractors deride KF for not doing. Throwing the ball down the field. Rushing the edges. Playing a player after he fumbled. Playing a player after he spoke out of turn to the media. Calling time outs to extend the first half to attempt to extend the lead even though Iowa was ahead by,what, 34 points?

This was not a typically KF coached game. That's all we ask. What do you think caused KF to deviate from his norm?

I have been critical of KF for awhile. But today seemed like a rebirth, of sorts. Just play this way the rest of the season and Iowa wins the West.

Don't get your hopes up. This was a classic KF game, there was NOTHING different about the schemes today. If you don't believe me, just ask Fitz KittyKat

"Nothing really new that we didn't anticipate but that's when you play Iowa," Fitzgerald said. "I didn't see anything different schematically. We saw the routes that we expected to see. I think we saw the protections. I think we just got beat one on one. We had one-on-one battles up front and we didn't get close to the quarterback."

I heard that interview too. He even sort of chuckled while saying it. at one point he said 'same ol Iowa'

The hawks did not out scheme them, they just whipped then. When is the last time Iowa just whipped another Big Ten team like that? Nebby they got a lot of T/O's I'll say last year's minny win.

I thought they looked different today.....much more of an effort to throw downfield and a more effective effort of mixing the run and pass together. Pound, Pound, Play-Action worked well. Weisman looked healthy and that freshman Kirk has been hiding on the sideline had him some quicks and a nice little spin move.

Flea-Flicker and a Blocked Punt Touchdown.......was a treat to see a dominating win for a change.

Like Jon said in his podcast....Iowa now needs to be consistent and play to its strengths. They do that and they have a very good chance of playing in the Big Ten Title Game. There will be no play-offs, but a chance for the Big Ten Title and playing in the Rose Bowl (would Iowa go here if they win the Big Ten this year?.....have not kept up on the tie-ins and how this works this year) would be incredible for the program right now.

One game at a time and Minny is next.

I love these "see, I told you so" posts. None of us expected today's outcome. TODAY'S team is the one we have all been waiting to see. It was a great win and Iowa's first complete game of the season. So let's just enjoy it without calling out fans. We all want Iowa to win and up until today, this team had not played a complete game. Today it happened. So ... Enjoy.

They did HaydenHawk and anyone who thinks otherwise is just not that smart.

That is way beyond Koolaid drinking. More like anti-freeze mixed with Jagermeister.

There would be very, very few who would actually fall into this category.
