Will the whiners stop whining now, or need more wine

A terrible team that beat Wisconsin just a few weeks back.

Let me clue you in on something..........IOWA is now Bowl eligible for
13 out of 14 seasons.

IOWA is 6-2 with a 3 pt loss to in-state rival and road loss to
Maryland, who beat Penn State today.

We are 1 loss away from being in the Playoff conversation and yet
some of the Whiners want more Pinot Grigio to WHINE ON with their Cheese heads!

GO FRIGGIN HAWKS
C'mon man, that is 6 wins, .500 ball. And that in-state rival sucks as bad as it usually does.

Playing in a bowl game shouldn't be anybody's yardstick for a season's success, considering there are 39 bowl games listed for 14-15.

What bowl game-level constitutes success? Outback and up.

with their cheese?

IOWA crushes NW, a team that has already beaten Wisconsin & yet
some whiner Hawkeye fans are continuing their whiney whine about how
Kirk didn't do this or that. LMAO.

Get behind this Hawkeye team or drag your whiney, whining whine over
to Lames. And Willies...........don't let the barn door hit you in the a** on your
way out of Iowa City..........a quitter.

Sick of it........

GO HAWKS>............what a Tremendous Team effort.
Rudock, Trinca-Passat, Lowdermilk, Weisman are really excellent young men
& Great Hawkeyes.

Okay, you are the delusional one. Nice win, and I loved every second of it, but come on, they beat a below average mildcat team at home. String a couple of nice wins together and I'll be impressed. One win does not impress me much.

This looked like Iowa football for the first time this season for 4 quarters and not the usual we are afraid of our own shadow bull crap.

The question to be answered is will this be a one time performance?

The other question in my mind is why does it always take mega pressure to get results from KF? As soon as the fan base gets to the point where we are ready to move on from KF then low and behold we get a performance like this. When the pressure is off we get much of what we have seen against Maryland, ISU, Ball St, etc. This seems to indicate a motivational issue.

If the legacy of this team is based solely on whether we beat a 3-5 Northwestern team then mission accomplished.

I think that Ferentz has certainly had some major issues putting his talent in situations to have success. I think we have the talent to beat Iowa State, but that didn't happen. In my opinion we are probably pretty evenly matched with Maryland, but two weeks ago we made them look like national champions.

If you believe that Iowa has played to it's potential all year then we disagree, nothing wrong with that.

Now it's time to spend the rest of the afternoons without posting on here, I'm too happy to spend my time arguing with strangers on the net. Not only did I get to see Iowa actually dominate someone but it was even sweeter when the losing coach was Fitzgerald. :D Now is the time to bask in a nice Iowa win and hope that it's the start of many more.

Agreed. I love the Hawks and live and die with them every week. I was excited as hell yesterday to not be puking sick and nervous to watch the second half. A few more wins this season MAYBE will get rid of the stench of that ISU loss in Kinnick. They (ISU) are what we thought they are, one of the very worst teams in college football.
The original poster was criticizing the Hawk fans for being negative.. Guess what?
Yesterday, the Hawks did things that the FANS have been calling for all season. It only took Ferentz 8 games. I pray to God that he continues to open up the play book and let the athletes go.

1 loss from being in playoff conversation? That is funny. Iowa's schedule has been far too weak. NW is 3-5 with a home loss to Northern Illinois. NW is a poor football team right now. Iowa looked good yesterday. Hopefully they build on it and do not revert to the SOS.

Our in-state rival is a horrible team with an idiot for a head coach. That idiot head coach, outcoached our 3.5 million dollar man by a mile.
Penn State sucks. A win over them by anyone means nothing anymore.
Wisconsin pounded Maryland because Wisky RAN THE BALL. Iowa threw it 55 times against Maryland.
I defend the BIG all the time to my non BIG friends. The reality is there will probably NEVER be a time again, when Iowa has a schedule like they have this year.
Weak non-conference schedule and the tough teams in their division at home. Not even close to a dominant, National Playoff type contender on their schedule. Iowa is 6-2 now. Prior to the season, that is the absolute worst record I could envision for this team against this schedule.
Go Friggin Hawks, too, with the hope that Ferentz stays awake the rest of the season.

When the snap was dropped and NW went in to score and make it 24-7, I looked at Mrs. Boat and said, this is where teams usually get back in the game against Iowa.

Yesterday was the old normal, not the new normal. Hopefully the old becomes the new again, so that the new is then old. But Kurt has a tendency to stick with the old, which is actually the new, which we didn't see yesterday because that was the old.

What? The haters complain about the scheme....welp this was a freaking typical KF boring game with us running the ball 50+ times. Da haters told us we gotsta play exciting players like Willies, not no talent hacks like KMM, and Vandenberg. Da Haters say KF gotta recruit better than 2* running backs that only other offers are Temple like Akrum Wadley.

This game was field position and defense, but it was executed to perfection today. So is the "haters" real complaint that the team ain't always perfect, or is it the "scheme" that dominated jNW today. Just look to Fitz kittykat himself, he said as much. There was NOTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT IOWA TODAY. They did what they always do!!

C'mon, dean ... quoting Fitz's cut-n-paste postgame comments about Iowa to substantiate your weak argument? You're better than that.

The strategy was NOTICEABLY different than Iowa's intent in every other game, except, first half Indiana. Rather than try to build vertically from a horizontal game plan and / or trying to power through the box that your horizontal game plan helped build against you, they were very deliberate with attacking the middle of the field with mid-range passes, attempting the long ball, and, most importantly, actually targeting down field. I remember at one point they flashed a stat where the top 3 in receiving yards were all 50+ and all 3 were WR's. (How refreshing to not see Bullock's name.) From there, it came together easily for the power rush / scat back combo to be successful.

Agreed, the execution was the best it's been all season, not to mention, for nearly a complete game. You credit (or backhandedly fault) the players but I think it was mostly due to the coaches finally executing a sound strategy -- finally a gameplan with a coherent sequence of play calling that maximized the players' abilities and put them in a position to be successful.

You only need to rewatch CJB's series to see the contrast between what the coaches had been trying to do and what they did today. He mixed in a couple horizontal passes to VandeBerg and Powell, for 0 and -2 yards. You could hear the "here we go, again" groans from everyone in Kinnick. Fortunately, they (or CJB?) came to their senses and decided to go back to what was working all day -- intermediate crossing patterns and running the ball. Lo and behold -- down the field for a touchdown.

Weak to equate being "too conservative" / "too boring" with a rushing attack. It always has been, is, and will continue to be all about the strategy -- do what your built to do, do what is working, keep doing it until they stop it, always do it with the intent to score (not just play field position to protect a lead) and do it with the best guys who can get it done on that day, against that opponent.

The persistent and deserved criticism of KirkFer, which you and all the apologists misrepresent as "hate", is because he consistently fails at one or many of these simple expectations from game to game and season after season.

What you saw yesterday was very different from what you've seen most of this season -- for much of the past 3 years, really. The rest of the season is the proving ground to whether yesterday was the exception or proof of actually following the recipe for success.

Hey Jon: I only got about 1700 Views with this thread. I'll try to pick a little more
interesting topic for future threads!!

GO HAWKEYES !!! Floyd ! Floyd !! FLOYD !!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a great win...no doubt...and I hope there are four more of them.

But this rationale is so overdone on the boards...if they go back to what has worked for them offensively i the past, they will likely have success...today was great...it;s a start but it's not yet a trend.

Exactly, one win does not erase two awful and unnecessary losses.

iowa is 6-2 against a schedule consisting entirely of bad teams.

I find it disappointing that people have such a lack of ability to look at big pictures.

I have a hard time taking you seriously when you say Rhoads out coached Ferentz by a mile. If you would have said an inch then maybe. If KF doesn't cal the t/o on the ISU field goal Paul doesn't get the win. That was a KF coaching mistake not a brilliant decision by Rhoads.

I blamed my hearing loss on this bag of whiners and Herby . Maybe Jon can invent (bleep machine) for those whiners

If anything Mangino out coached GD, in that he made adjustments and moved the ball in the 2nd half, where GD made adjustment to make sure we were incompetent on O in the second half. The day that Rhoads is 1/2 the coach Ferentz is, is the day I'll eat a **** burger. Over halfway through year 6 Rhoads is 29-42 (.408%), plus he is doing worse the more his recruits are in place. Ferentz over the same time period is 44-28 (.611).

It isn't even close, even if you hate KF, just imagine if you had to put up with that garbage coach that the Clowns have.....he would have lasted 3 years max at Iowa, just like Lickliter.
