Hawkeyes (Mostly) Dismantle Iowa State

The thing I keep coming back to after watching that game is lickliter vs. msu. People wanted so bad for it to mean that we have shown something good that they overlook how bad things actually are. I differentiate the ferentz era with the Greg Davis era. The Greg davis era of Iowa football= lickliter era of basketball and those that are desperate for it to succeed now have their "signature" win.

If this happens again, and the team isn't as crappy and we end up losing, is it not justified? This will be the worst team we end up playing this year and we won by 7. I am glad we are 2-1 and we could be 3-1, going in to league play; but this could also be our last "W" for the year.

Yeah, no.

I hope you all stay true to your two year barrage of hate on this team and maintain it during this year's bowl prep.

I understand you're all frustrated, but it has blinded you. This is our best team since Stanzi picked apart Mizzou in Arizona. We're gonna win some games.

I agree. I have said all along that this team is an 8 or9 win team coached to 5 or 6. That is what we saw last night. A blowout win was coached to a close finish.

This is exactly it. To see the same ineffective methods used over and over again to end games has taken its toll.

Also curious about the same ineffective methods? Can't remember the last time we got burnt multiple times by bringing the blitz and getting beat one on one as a result. Guess I'm missing something, but then again I guess it's easy to complain about how conservative we play and then once we start getting overly aggressive and bringing the heat on third downs, we go back to the exact same argument. No win situation.

I also loved how poorly Michigan, Nebby, and a number of other BIG schools looked yesterday, but then hear people acting like we'll be blessed to win a conference game this year. Let face it we didn't finish the game the way most would have wanted, but to think that this team has no chance the rest of the way to win any conference games is a complete and utter joke.

what really blows my mind is how we kept getting beat deep. not sure if it was on Parker for not having them play back far enough, or on the safeties for being out of position. the blitzing on 3rd works if you don't let them get behind you, which they clearly did several times.

If we beat Minnesota. I am content. I think ISU will have a doomed worst year ever. Guess we will play it out and see what unfolds. I do think most of the Iowa games will be 50/50 odds. Purdue kind of stinks this year. Kanas and Kansa State suck bad this year so it might be a battle for who sucks the worst in the big 12. Tcu is not off to a good start either.

i think i once heard someone say that a certain person would probably complain at his hanging because the executioner used a new rope.....this fanbase is delusional, at best. always something to complain about, even after a win.

I think the only one delusional is you. This is a message board, if everyone had the same opinion then this place would be boring. About all you do is look to poke fun of someone and make negative comments about a fan base you are a part of. Try something new, have an opinion on the team and actually contribute to the forums. If you disagree with a comment tell us why, simply calling someone delusional adds nothing.

As a Hawk fan I will admit I believe we are 50/50 this year and my advice to you as a cyclown fan you need to admit your team will suck this year. Why your replying to our fan base founder alone blows my mind.

Iowa is getting better each game. However, the end result isn't going to be earth shattering. They had fewer penalties, fewer drive kills. The secondary and special teams are still works in progress. Iowa did managed to play a solid 55 minutes of a game. Right now Iowa's hopes are on Weisman.

I think I'd expand that to the running game. Last night, Weisman had a great performance, but I think any back we consistently gave the ball to would have had the same (or similar) results. Weisman definitely wore them down, but Bullock and Canzeri didn't slow down the offense when they took over the backfield.

If that game was 30 seconds longer, Iowa loses.

holy ******* **** with all the negativity. Iowa did win the game right? Did I just dream that?

If the game was 30 seconds longer, Iowa might have tried a forward pass at some point on their last two drives. ISU could not win the game and the Iowa coaching staff knew it so they ran the ball three times into a 10 man defensive front, ran some clock, used up ISU's timeouts and walked out with a win.

Well, you're absolutely wrong then. How is not recovering an onside kick a coaching error? How is BJ Lowry whiffing on Bundridge in open space a coaching error?

That was probably the best coached Iowa game I have seen in two years. You've got it all wrong. The talent isn't there.

Also, why does everyone keep complaining that we didn't close the game out? You do know we closed the game out right?

I won't touch the comment that the talent isn't there, but I love the fans that use the last 7 minutes to criticize the coaching staff, but then fail to acknowledge anything they did the first 53 minutes of the game. Much easier to ignore the positives and dwell on the negatives to get a point across. Can't critique a performance by giving any credit whatsoever to what went well for fear it ruins their argument. I've yet to read a post from yesterday or previous games in which they actually praised KF and staff for the first 53 minutes and then criticized for the way the final few minutes played out.

I know on one of ISU's 4th quarter touchdowns, we got burnt on a blitz. Classic conservaKirk. Playing unaggressive, uninspired football and trying to give the game away by laying down.

Not a chance.

I don't know what to tell you Boat, if you think this is a 8 or 9 win talented team, I guess we just disagree with how talented this team is. I feel this is a 6 win team talent wise, and I would bet they get there.

Who really cares if ISU scored a couple cheap TD's at the end? A&M did the same to Alabama yesterday, who cares? Plus I won a few hundy with a back door over, so all is good. :D

You dirty dog deano. I hit a 4 team parlay, and it would have been a 5 teamer had I not pushed the damn under thanks to Iowa States late run (had it at 48).

You got it half right. But that part where you implied that Ray Hamilton and BJ Lowery aren't talented? Yeah, the NFL will beg to differ in about two and a half years.
