KF can't get this team to play a full 60 minutes - we need some fire

This was a very disappointing loss. Iowa had one really good quarter of football and lost to a very good team by 3 points.

I have always backed KF even though I am very quizzical about some of his decisions.

But I am seeing a drastic pattern of the team not being ready to take the field sky high and to dominate.

Hawks made a lot of mistakes and some mental ones in the first qtr and fell behind in a pattern that has been too common lately. Then we play well but then get out coached and out executed in the second half. I am starting to think something systemic is really lacking.

2008-most of 2010 was the last time we had a lot of swagger and could control games from the start.

this team has a severe lack of talent if you compare it to the 2008-2010 period of time.

you are right, our secondary looked terrible even though the front seven looks good. Special teams were a C-.

We had good running and good pass routes in the first half but reverted to weird pass routes in the second.

Lots of questions still on this team.

Look at our RB situation. People have raved at how deep the team is at RB, however, are any of them capable of breaking one off for 6? Iowa has had some really good backs in the stable, and they should still be there, but with some bad decisions and bad luck, we don't. i.e. Coker Pace, et al.

Still no speed rush from the end of the DL. Overall, team really young - and some of those young folks need to step it up, fast.

Lotta missed plays - too many - for a young team - especially when you make 3 TOs. For example, that dropped screen pass by Bullock was bad - that could have gone for a long ways. Ultimately, players gotta make some plays.

I'm not sure how he can motivate players to play for 60 minutes when it is he who takes his foot off the gas with a slim lead in a tight game. I'd actually feel a lot better about this loss if I felt Iowa had a coach going full out balls to the wall for 60 minutes trying to win it than the one we have who goes conservative to try to avoid squandering a narrow lead in order to not lose.

Welcome to where some of us on this site have been for a few years now.

That Stanzi Special sideline route with a rookie QB and 1:30 on the clock not far from FG range is a fireable offense. Blatant malpractice.
