Passed him By

Are you talking about the year that Iowa had Ricky Stanzi and two of the best wrs in Iowa history? How many players from that defense are in the NFL? Who was the OC? Who was the DC?

Yeah...the same Ricky Stanzi who led the country in interceptions that year...and kept a ton of mediocre teams in games with bonehead plays...yeah that one. Dude, you and your buddy Freed need to turn off the broken record...it's the same KF crap in every freaking post. Get over it. You don't have one of the most successful decades of football in the history of your school without knowing what you are doing. He hired Norm...and I'm going to go out on a limb here...they most likely discussed personnel, strategy, and gameplans each week. Now I'm confident you will refute that...and I hope you do...as it will only confirm what I think about your skewed view of our current headcoach. I'm willing to go further and say, Norm would also give KF credit for knowing the game of football. Heres a question for you knucklehead, could an offensive line guru (KF) provide any insight to a defensive coordinator about how to gameplan for a particular team that's good at running the ball and how they are effective.

OOTH...it's tired man...at least ok4p mixes it up once in a while...your crap is like walking the green mile...the only problem is that I can't seem to get to the freaking chair.

It is true KF has a bad record on clock managment. Not sure how you can debate that. As far as other game day decsions. I think he is pretty consistant. You may not like his conservative approach but that is who he is. I happen to think that approach helps keep us in games when we are fighting a uphill battle on talent. If you look back we dont get blown out very often. As other posters have said its losing the games we should win that is frustrating and something he needs to change.

OUTofTOWNHAWK: Hey, I've experienced the same frustrations you've experienced with Iowa's fan base, here on Hawkeye Nation... Some fans don't care about Iowa's current trend of wins and losses ('cause the wins are just around the corner).

Ask them to post what KF should do to be a better coach. Invariably you'll get KF should do the same things he's done before... The team should execute better, though.

Nevermind the change in offensive styles among most B1G schools - that passing and athleticism has become intregal parts of most B1G offenses. This is where, IMO, the game has passed KF by.

Way to come out and back them into a corner Jon! The same old tiring excuses get incredibly old. We get it. You guys are unable to see things with perspective. Everything negative is on Ferentz, everything positive is credited to his assistants, and the only positive aspect to Kirk's coaching is his ability to teach offensive linemen. Bout sums it up right? Great. Now that it is settled and the majority of HawkeyeNation knows your shtick please start to bring a different bag of tricks to the party.

Have you ever read transcripts of actual professionals talking about Kirks coaching ability? Norm, KOK, Bill Parcels, Barry Alvarez, Hayden Fry, Jim Caldwell, Joe Philbin, Bill Belichick, and god knows how many other giants in the football profession have praised the way Kirk can coach and develop young men. All of his former players have absolutely nothing but good things to say about him except maybe DJK. Yet you guys refuse to acknowledge any of that. It's really getting to the point where it's quite comical.

This was at least as comical: posters would blame every woe of the Iowa program on KOK (and still do)! Say DP5555, why don't you ask Philbin's opinion on how KOK's doin' in Miami?
Why don't you give an example of any coach that had bad things to say about another coach (that didn't go to jail) ?

Stop repeating yourself.

In your opinion, who instilled the fear of turnover into Stanzi?

I think we have seen a couple Qbs get the conservative game plan scared into them. Id say its the same HC that prefers for other teams to lose instead of going after wins late in games. Id say its the same coach who would rather take a knee and let it go to OT instead of risking a win I mean a turnover.

2009 disagrees with your statement.

That offense really wasn't anything special. The defense, which featured 7 starters who have seen playing time in the NFL, was the backbone of that team. The offense was no juggernaut.

Agreed, this offense was no juggernaut; however, it was no slouch either.
35 pts scored vs ISU, 27 vs Arizona, 30 vs Michigan, 42 vs Indiana, 24 vs OSU (a top ranked D). The D carried the team thru the season, but the offense had its moments too. And it did so without a Banks/Greene, a rotation of freshmen backs, and with Stanzi throwing pick 6's like it was his j.o.b.

So then lets hear it? Where are your facts you have yet to say anything. In your reality is Iowa football doing well right now?

The response to this from the majority of HN is as follows.............

1. It's true Iowa is not doing well at present and the last three years have not been good.

2. This is to be expected at Iowa because we can't recruit good players all the time like Texas, Alabama and tOhio State. You are foolish to believe that there will not be drop off years at Iowa.

3. Kf has done quite a good job in that he's only had one losing season since he turned it around. Heck, look at all the big name coaches. They have had losing seasons too.

4. You can't blame kf for last season. Heck, he had the two same coordinators for 13 years. All the sudden he had two new ones. Good grief, readjust your expectations. Name me one d-1a coach who has to start over with two new coordinators and has a good season that year? You can't. KF is a good coach!!

5. For the sake of all logic, look what the guy has done at Iowa. Many bowl game wins, including a BCS bowl game plus tons of players that are now in the NFL And he did all this at Iowa. Remember it's almost impossible to win at a school like Iowa.

6. The 3 year good, 3 year bad cycle is just always how it will be at Iowa. KF is due to have a good year very soon. If not this year, then next.

7. So you all kf haters want him gone? Who you gonna find that's better than kf to come to Iowa? Nobody.

8. I am proud that kf has stayed at Iowa as long as he has, and I hope he stays till he's 80.
