Well...sniff sniff...

Yeah, Freds a HUGE legend..when I was a kid I couldn't get my hands on his jersey it was so hot. Nobody even knows who he is from IOWA besides people in the ames area.

Yeah, I mean it's crazy, he didn't coach a college "all-star" basketball game or anything in Atlanta.... Carry on.

Haha yeah, and I'm sure those kids knew exactly who he was..right after they 'googled' him. How old are you Cwood? I am 26. Carry onto your own board weirdo.

Iowa is relevant again? You guys are on your way up, but relevant might be a stretch.

Fred the l-e-g-e-n-dddddd. The OP is stating IA is relevant again which we are obviously. I am not sure how iowa st. got brought up or is relevant in this thread...buuuuut thanks for logging in and setting us straight Cwood..appreciate it.

Baylor lost to the college of charleston, so they basically didn't even exist, and they beat iowa. Maybe one game doesn't mean a lot in a 30+ game schedule.

The game you referenced...true. Iowa vs. ISU always means something to both schools and both fan bases and the players definitely don't look past this one.

Congratulations to him on coacing a game that no one cares about or watches.

This all-star game was highly anticipated. There is absolutely no way an event like that would ever be shown tape delayed two days after it happened. NO way whatsoever.

My original post didn't even bring up ISU, if you care to go reread it. Your hawk brethren brought ISU into it after I posted.

And congrats on being 26, does that make you a man yet?

Oh like any game in the NIT?

Uncle, can you tell me where Iowa State is on that list? I looked and looked and looked and I didn't observe them. I am certain a relevant program would get significant mention in a pre-season poll...

theobserver fits you well, you observe things and determine what anybody else with one working eye can figure out. Glad we have you to help us confirm our observations.

If only pre-season rankings did anything to help on the court........

The only rankings that matter are the end of season rankings and making the NCAA tournament.

I don't see Iowa anywhere in those.

When I said "NBA people" I meant GM's, insiders, owners, etc. People who would be extending an offer to Hoiberg to coach their franchise. Those NBA people have a lot of respect for Hoiberg.

The people that matter if you want to coach in the NBA. If only players and fans picked their coaches, Hoiberg would be irrelevant.

Nope, it doesn't. I still can't grow a solid beard, it looks like a calico cat. I was just trying to see how old you were. I was in school when the legend was making his run in the NBA and i was just trying to make my point that nobody, even in Iowa (besides ames) has heard of Fred. I had to google him and see when he actually played. I bet you're old as dirt.

Hey you farking losers from lames. We beat you on the court and we have everyone (minus may) coming back from a very young team with the addition of three players that could evens or us better. Whatever way you want to look at it, on the court head to head or outlook for next year, it looks a lot brighter for us than you. And also, suck on these balls I hate you

Win.

For the record...I never bash the Cyclones when I'm with my Cyclone friends. I don't go on a Cyclone site (if there is such a thing) and bash the Cyclones. When I'm with my Iowa friends and/or on this site (which is clearly dedicated to the Hawks) I don't feel any need to filter whatsoever as it relates to the Clones. That's how it was, is and should be.

Nothing wrong with that.

The home team won 9 of the last 10, I think ISU wins in Hilton. If they do, that doesn't automatically make them the better team. If it does, we'll take that 11-1 season, whether Hawkeye11en1 likes it or not.

I like Iowa in this game. I don't think the crowd or being on the road is going to bother the Hawks. I'm obviously expecting big things next year. ISU will also be breaking in a lot of new players...including the all important point guard position. I wouldn't bet on the game...learned a long time ago not to bet on Iowa when they're playing ISU.

ISU has only lost three games at home that past two seasons combined: Mizzou, UNI and the KU screwjob. I'm not saying it's impossible, but that is hard to argue against. Iowa was breaking in a new PG this past year and won. You're also forgetting that we return a 5th year PG in Bubu. Monte Morris won Mr. Basketball in Michigan over the #10 player in the country going to Kentucky and another going to Michigan. Definitely would never bet on an ISU vs. Iowa game, but if I did it'd be on the home team every time.
