It's been a great ride this BB season and I'll "miss" you BB posters :)

Because Iowa is relevant again, and, the strength of the Big-10, I can honestly say I haven't been this engaged in college BB for a long time.

Looking forward to more of the same next year.

Go Hawks.

Only, like, 7 months until next season. I'm probably looking forward to Iowa basketball more than I'm looking forward to any of my other sports teams' seasons.

Iowa is relevant again? You guys are on your way up, but relevant might be a stretch.

They're at the very least now relevant to their fans, but the Hawks are a team worth discussing in the B1G on a national scale as well. ESPN already has a way too early preseason ranking with the Hawks at #25. I thoroughly enjoyed this season and wish next year could start now.

Depends on how you define "relevant". If you are looking at last year, ISU was more relevant. Since last year is now over, and everyone will be looking to 2013-2014 Iowa is much more relevant than ISU. Iowa will be in several pre season top 25, ISU won't. Iowa will be talked about as a program that is ready to break out, ISU won't.

We don't know what next season will hold, but as far as national media goes, Iowa is much, much more relevant than ISU at least until we get through part of next season and see what shakes out.

Im guessing that empty feeling will change for most in 4 short months, but it will be nice to have something to look forward to if the boys of the gridiron check out early again.

Agreed. 1st college BB season in a long time that I planned what I was doing around a Hawk BB game. I actually watched some other Big BB games as well. Looking forward much more to BB than FB season.

Iowa beat ISU so if we were irrelevant then ISU was something less than irrelevant. The Big 12 showed their strength and depth in the NCAA Tournament...not much there and the best players in a weak conference will be gone.

Some of your friends over on CF have been observed dreaming of a national championship in the next year or two. Good luck with that. 80-71 -- that's all I got for ya...

No reason to cry or leave this board, Seth. Unless u feel like punishing yourself for the next 5 or 6 months by going to FB board to discuss the fall-apart of the IA football program, held hostage by KF and his inability to change/adapt, ever, and his absurd contract. Stay here and party with us. Grass definitely greener over here with Franny!

BB season never ends. Now, the AAU tourny scene heats up. Iowa's pursuit of 2014 recruits goes on the front burner. Then, before you know it, PTL starts in June. What do Jok and Uthoff look like out there with their future teammates? Then, the playoffs. Then practice starts for the Euro trip. Then the Euro Trip, then school starts and the shirts/skin scrimmages before football games begin..and soon after...practice begins.

This is going to the shortest offseason in the history of Iowa bb...playing on April 4 will shorten it up,and roadtripping to Europe shortens it up even more.

The past season ended ONE day ago and ISU was involved in one of the best games of the NCAA tournament. They are definitely more relevant.

And as long as Fred Hoiberg is in Ames, ISU will be a nationally recognized program. NBA people know Hoiberg and want them as their coach, he's a legend in the state of Iowa, he's taken his teams to the NCAA tournament.

In terms of relevancy, Hoiberg is most definitely more relevant than the Iowa coach. I don't think most fans outside the general vicinity of Iowa know who Fran is. That isn't the case with Hoiberg.

Hoiberg is a legend in Iowa but to think the casual NBA fans nationally remember Hoiberg as an NBA player is absurd.

Most casual NBA fans probably do not know 95% of the players that ever played.

However if you say the "mayor" most casual fans would probably recognize who that is.
He's a good story, and most people just like the guy, even Iowa fans who hate ISU seem to think the Mayor is a pretty good guy..

And I would say if a team is ranked going into the preseason, it makes you "relevant."

BS. Most fans in Iowa know who "The Mayor" is. That is laughable to think someone in NYC, Atlanta, Boston, or any other NBA market would connect "The Mayor" with Fred Hoiberg.
