Pointless But Interesting Iowa Bball Stats

1. Roy Devyn Marble ranks second on the team in defensive rebounds (43), but seventh in offensive rebounds (11).

2. Anthony Clemmons averages almost the exact same percentage in free throw shooting (43.8%), field goal shooting (43.5%) and three point shooting (43.8%).

3. When adding FG% + 3PT% for each player, only three players' total equals more than their FT%: Roy Devyn Marble, Anthony Clemmons and Adam Woodbury.

4. Gabe Olaseni has only missed twelve shots - of any kind - this year.

5. Darius Stokes leads the team in rebounding per minute (.375). Adam Woodbury is second (.304).

6. Adam Woodbury - at this point - averages the exact amount of rebounds per game (5.2) that Greg Brunner did his freshman year.

7. Mike Gesell - at this point - averages the exact amount of steals per game (1.4) that Dean Oliver did his freshman year.

8. Mike Gesell - at this point - averages more points (9.4) than Dean Oliver (8.8), Jeff Horner (8.2) and BJ Armstrong (2.9) did their freshman year.

9. Two players - Pat Ingram and Adam Woodbury - shoot better from the field than from the free throw line.

10. This year's team has five players averaging 10+ minutes (Clemmons, Woodbury, May, McCabe and Olaseni) whose cumulative total of RPG+APG+SPG+BPG equals more than their total PPG. Last year, this was true of only two players (May, Cartwright).

You must be SERIOUSLY bored.

I don't know where you got that but I believe it is called "mind-bottling". Seriously a guy like you who loves his beer would know that.

"Yeah, mind bottling. You know, when things are so crazy, it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle."

That Sapp stat is mind-boggling.

My favorite is #10. Basabe missed qualifying as our sixth player by a hair. It speaks to the unselfishness of this team. To find that many players with excellent secondary stats, you have to go back to - you guessed it - '05-'06, when Mike Henderson, Erek Hansen, Doug Thomas, Tony Freeman and Alex Thompson all qualified.

Between Basabe, May and Zach McCabe all starters at one point or another now accepting their roles as off the bench guys is great. Look at Gesell moving from PG to SG. I know he is still a starter but this team is full of guys who are completely unselfish and just want what is best for the team, which is to win. Just another reason why I think this team will succeed and have a great year.

Most of the stats are irrelevant at this point. Alford and Davis actually played decent teams in non-con. I don't care how many rebounds Woodbury has or how many points Gesell has in basically 10 games against Marathon Oil.
