WVU QB Will Grier Skipping Bowl Game

Hey Will Grier, if you are reading this and need some Nugenix to help you train for the draft, then hit me up. I have a ton of this stuff and I can get you a great deal.

This country is going to hell in a hand basket. A QB skipping a bowl game.

I blame the coaches. They've been doing this kind of thing for decades and worse. Recruit a kid, tell him they're gonna be there all 4 years...then jump as soon as a better opportunity comes along.
And the coach can do this with impunity while that same player that said coach recruited, has to sit out an entire year for trying to do the same thing. Attitude reflects leadership.

You hear the tenor of this being a "business" more and more.

I guess it's been that way for long time. As a fan it kind of stinks, but I get it.

The thing that will be interesting is where it will end(leaving early/not playing bowls). It'll be another dynamic for coaches to plan for and mitigate.

I'm getting to a "get off my lawn" age but if it gets to a point where high projected draft picks start sitting regular season games...that I would have major issue with.

Times are a changing...

Wait until the playoffs expand to eight teams.
The bowls will become more and more meaningless with more and more kids opting out.

I'm waiting for the day when a player skips the playoffs.

In 1968 there were 11 bowl games.
In 1978 there were 15 bowl games.
In 1988 there were 17 bowl games.
In 1998 there were 22 bowl games.
In 2008 there were 34 bowl games.
In 2018 there are 40 bowl games, not including the playoff games.

The number of bowl games has swelled by 4x in 50 years, and 2x in 20 years.

I don't think bowl games are meaningless, but they certainly aren't unique any more. I think that adds to the attitude about playing in a bowl game.

Lloyd’s of London policy at $8k per $1m vs sitting??
Unless there’s a bag man depending on the school, I guess Will has to protect his.
Univ and coaches for years have used the athlete for their gain - it’s now a new world.

Big time college athletics is now totally a business, athletes are just wising up for their chunk of the action.
