WSU says don't press us!

I guess we'll find out cuz I don't see us not pressing to start of the game.

I didn't catch the beginning of last night's game but we've started out in the press in all others.

Love this comment:

"Take THAT, Big East. If they make half of their missed layups and make their usual percentage of free throws the Shox win by 25. Beat Iowa.
GO SHOX!!!!!!!!!"

That's like UNI bragging they beat Nebraska in hoops.

After reading that article I hope Iowa wipes the floor with them. I don't think they will but this isn't a game we can't win. I want to see how well they handle the press when they have 6'8, 6'1 and 6'6 that they are trying to get around. And then having to shoot layups over 7'1. Slightly different then the lineup Depaul used.

As in the movie Armageddon, were gonna press ya, were gonna twist ya, were gonna spin ya, were gonna shake ya until your guts come out, or something like that. I'm not looking it up, my throat hurts, you get my point. That's movie quotes

3 things we need to improve to win tonight:

1. Free throw shooting!

2. Can we please run a good in-bounds play from under the basket?? We just seem lost for 4.5 seconds until we chuck it up for grabs right before we get called for a 5 second violation.

3. Drive the lane! I would really like to see Gesell, Marble, and Clemmons drive the lane more often to open up shots from the outside, or open up a big to dump off to down low. In my opinion, which is worth very little, we have been kicking it around outside way too much instead of creating our own shot.

The difference is DePaul does not have a Woodbury standing under the basket if they do break the press. DePaul was incredibly weak underneath the basket, they are going to have all kinds of problems in the Big East. WSU will not be able to bully our post players like they did DePaul.

You can tell they spent a lot of time on Defense. They press the whole game and don't give up many open shots. But they also aren't as good offensively yet as Fran's usual teams. They will get to where they run good stuff out of bounds. Fran's shown his ability to run good stuff on dead ball situations in his first two years here.

Good stuff, here are my 3 key points:

1. Force them to beat you on the perimeter. Iowa will need a good zone defense tonight. They are not a good 3 point shooting team.
2. Limit the fouls and keep them off the free throw line. They are a pretty good FT shooting team.
3. Rebound Rebound Rebound, they have got to keep WSU off the offensive glass scoring easy 2nd chance points.

4. Take care of the ball. We turned it over more than WK last night, giving them a double digit edge in shots taken. If that happens tonight I don't see us getting the W.
